Survivor 47: Update #6

 


Before we get started, a reminder of who has whom:

Previously on, Survivor by…Rome?  For god’s sake, spare me with this guy!

We pick back up at Gata following Anika’s blindside, and Andy thinks tribal was fun as hell.  Rachel doesn’t know which way is up and Sam has a useless idol because he chose not to play it on the only night where it had power.  It’ll make a good fake though!

Boats arrive at all of the camps….

It’s time to DROP YOUR BUFFS!

For us, that means it’s time to redraft.  We will each draft one player with the remaining players going into the Lifeline pool.  I’ll send out a text with the draft order and remaining players.

Back on Fiji, Rachel couldn’t be happier about the merge as she gets an entire beach of new people to play with (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rachel] to Dylan!).  Teeny is nervous but also excited  (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Teeny] to Angela!)

Tuku does the happy dance, and no one’s happier than Gabe. He wants to be a Survivor legend and you can’t do that if you don’t make the merge.  Sue is worried the red paint in her bag will give her idol away.

The other boats arrive when Tiyana notices a sign with a note.  There’s a challenge tomorrow and there’s an advantage somewhere.  Be the first to find it.  Go!  They take off into the woods.  Sam and Genevieve see a buoy out on the water, which is strange, but neither thinks to check it.  The rest search the jungle for like 10 minutes, according to Sol and then they head back to camp to get to know each other. He can’t believe how quickly they gave up. After a while, Genevieve can’t get the buoy out of her head, so she goes back out to check and whattya know!  (7 points for “Obtain a secret advantage” [Genevieve] to Carol!).

A group comes upon red paint at the water well, remnants of Sue’s idol, and assume it’s related to the challenge.  Caroline, however, figures out Sue was lying at the well and deduces she has the idol.  Sue admits it to Caroline but when Tiyana also figures it out, Sue says nothing.

Rome couldn’t be happier. He’s running this beach (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rome] to Angela!). He pumps Kyle for information, and loose lips say Sam and Tiyana are the biggest threats.  Being Rome, he immediately goes to Sue, Sam and Tiyana and sells out Kyle’s loquaciousness thinking that will keep him safe.

Knowing Kyle wouldn’t go against her, Tiyana follows Rule #3: Trust But Verify and checks with Kyle, who said Rome said that to him!  When Sol confirms that Rome likes to stir the pot, Kyle tells half the tribe…

Rome: Public Enemy #1

They get to the merge challenge and because it’s Survivor, there’s a twist. They are split into two teams for a two-stage challenge.  They have to crawl through mud under a net, use a hook to retrieve a bag with a ball in it. Climb an American Ninja Warrior Warped Wall and then use the ball to complete a labyrinth. The team that wins the first stage gets a merge feast and the opportunity to compete for individual immunity.  Genevieve’s advantage allows her to skip to the 2nd stage, which is huge!

Yellow: Rachel, Sam, Sierra, Kyle, Sue and Teeny

Blue: Rome, Caroline, Sandy, Gabe, Tiyana and Sol

Andy and Rome take long enough to get out of the mud that Jeff calls them out on it (3 points each for “Jeff says something negative about you in a challenge” [Andy], [Rome] to Roberta and Angela!) but the teams are tied at the ball retrieval.  Genevieve, clean and rested on the bench, says she feels guilty but she’s a lawyer, so I don’t believe her.

It’s tough for the smaller Survivors to get up the wall but Yellow gets up there first.  Sam and Kyle work on the maze in a slow and steady fashion.  When Blue begins it’s Gabe and (of course) Rome on the labyrinth. Rome and Gabe keep dropping, to the point where Sol asks if there are swap outs.  Nope, you’re stuck with what you have says Jeff.  Both get near the center but it’s Yellow who pulls out the victory! (3 points each for “Win Tribe Reward” [Sam], [Sue], [Rachel], [Teeny] to Brian, Sheila, Dylan and Angela!), (6 points for “Win Tribe Reward” [Kyle], [Sierra] to Lia!).

Rome always insists on doing the challenges and he ALWAYS fails.  Shooters shoot, I guess.

At Stage 2, they have to balance a ball on a wooden bow while standing on a beam. An aside – this is the challenge I almost won at Survivor GenCon, which would’ve put me in Final 3. Alas….

Anyway, Sierra and Sam drop immediately while Kyle looks locked in.  At stage 2, Rachel and Genevieve drop. When Jeff says “A little movement by Sue”, which distracts Teeny just long enough for her to drop.  Finally at Stage 3, Sue gives in! Kyle wins! (8 points for “Win individual immunity” [Kyle] to Lia!)

At the feast, everyone agrees: It’s Rome.  Genevieve is the only ally he had but she said nothing.  Back at camp, Andy, Caroline and Teeny decide to play their shared idol publicly to get away from everyone knowing they have an advantage.  Sol is thrilled at the idea Rome is the target. 

But it’s Rome. He’s not going down quietly. 

He tells Andy, Caroline and Tiyana how he has self-esteem issues that were made worse by Sol who was mean to him.  No one – and I mean NO ONE – has less self-esteem issues than Rome. Deion Sanders is humbler than Rome.

And because he’s so full of himself, Rome feels like he’s the mastermind because everyone’s yes’ing him to death while sharpening their knives.  “The fact that there were 13 people playing the game and I can corral most of them to vote my way says a lot about how I’m playing this game”.

Yes, it does.  It’s just not saying what you think.

At tribal, they talk about the twist, and how they agree with whatever plan is put in place.  Sol laughs at how little people searched for the advantage, leading Jeff to ask Rome if some advantages are disadvantages. He invites Rome to take over his chair and talk about why the amulet advantage is a negative.  The tribe looks back on him as a joke.  Back in his own chair, Jeff asks Gabe about blindsides. If you know where the votes are, you’re good.  Andy thinks blindsiding Anika was fun as hell. 

"I disagree"

He wants to be known as someone who made an impact, and he fears the FOMO (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Andy] to Roberta!), (5 points for “Say the title of the episode” [Andy] to Roberta!).

When it’s time to vote, the camera shows everyone voting Rome.  The camera does not show me singing “NA NA NA NA. NA NA NA NA. HEY HEY HEY. GOODBYE!”.  It also shows Rome voting for Sam because he “knows it’s Sol so he wants to shake things up a bit”

 Paying her back for giving up her vote, the three amulet holders agree to play the idol for Teeny. (2 points for “Play hidden immunity idol on yourself” [Teeny] to Angela!), (5 points each for “Play hidden immunity idol on someone else” [Andy], [Caroline] to Roberta and Iyasah!).

In the end, Rome is voted out, with Andy the backup plan getting two votes and Sam getting a hinky vote. (9 points for “Received vote against” [Rome] to Angela!), (2 points for “Received vote against” [Andy] to Roberta!), (1 point for “Received vote against” [Sam] to Brian!), (-2 points for “The tribe has spoken” [Rome] against Angela!)

Classier on the way out than he was at any point of the game.

So, what does that mean for our scores?  Leader Angela picks up a huge 24 points thanks to Rome’s big mouth and overdue departure.  Roberta picks up 17 to remain in 2nd while Lia rides Kyle’s immunity into 3rd! Dylan drops to 4th as Tiyana hasn’t done much but scowl. Carol explodes out of the basement and into 5th thanks to Genevieve finding the advantage, pushing Iyasah, Sheila and Brian into 6th, 7th and 8th

So, what does that mean for our scores?  We have a new leader!  Kristyn takes a huge 23 point jump into first place thanks to Rome’s big mouth and eventual ouster!  She’s closely trailed by 2nd place Jay and 3rd place Ricky, thanks to Andy, Caroline and Sam! Dalphyne drops to 4th place, but she has a decent gap to 5th place Marissa as the bottom four (Marissa, Scott, Carol and Jen) remain in place.

Survivor 47: Update #5

We pick back up at Loser Camp, aka Lavo (Red) where Teeny feels betrayed, bamboozled and lost now that her #1 Kishan is gone (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Teeny] to Angela!).  Rome, being Rome, needs to berate Teeny for voting against him (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rome] to Angela!) .  She stumbles out a few words but all I can picture is

Rome: Bang, zoom! To the moon, Teeny! 

5 bonus points if you tell me who Ralph normally wanted to send to the moon. No Googling, Binging, ChatGPTing or anythingelsing! Tell no one else. Offer good until next update.

Genevieve tells Teeny they are in the middle because Rome won’t work with Sol, and after last week’s bullying it’s tough to envision it going the other way as well.   

We get an early Reward challenge and there are two teams even though three tribes are left. That means we’re drawing for spots.  For the new players, team events like this are scored as tribes so members of the winning team receive Win Tribe Reward points. 

A note for new players: when they do events like this, the teams are scored as tribes. 

In this competition, they have to race under an obstacle to get keys. The keys unlock a ladder. The ladder has to be maneuvered through a puzzle. Once free, climb the ladder to retrieve five balls.  Each person sinks a ball in a hoop. First team to sink all five wins a trip to Survivor Nirvana…I mean, the Sanctuary where they’ll get to spend time with people from other tribes.

Blue team:  Anika, Sol, Rome, Gabe, Andy, Sierra, Genevieve

Yellow team: Sue, Kyle, Teeny, Sam, Rachel, Tiyana, Caroline

While they start out even, Blue gets stuck on the ladder puzzle allowing Yellow a big lead (10 points each for “Jeff says ‘that’s how you do it on Survivor’” [Kyle], [Teeny], [Rachel], [Caroline], [Sam] to Lia, Angela, Sheila, Iyasah and Brian!), (20 points for “Jeff says ‘that’s how you do it on Survivor!” [Rachel/Tiyana] to Dylan!).  Blue makes a big comeback and is shooting baskets alongside Yellow. Unfortunately for them, Sports Reporter Sam knocks in the #5 shot FROM WAY DOWNTOWN meaning Yellow wins reward! (3 points each for “Win Tribal Reward” [Kyle], [Teeny], [Rachel], [Caroline], [Sam] to Lia, Angela, Sheila, Iyasah and Brian!), (6 points for “Win Tribal Reward” [Rachel/Tiyana] to Dylan!).  ).  Everyone else, got nothing for ya. Head back to camp.

At the Sanctuary, Teeny tells everyone how she’s on the bottom while Gata sings kumbaya saying they go everywhere together.   Tiyana, however, has an agenda.  She has a sharp hatchet, and she wants to bury it in Gabe’s game.  She tells everyone he’s been hunting for idols and is fine with him going home post merge.  It’d be a good game move if no one else on Tuku were there…. but Sue is and she can’t believe what she’s hearing.  Even if she doesn’t know Sue is allied with Gabe, she MUST know that Sue could use this against her.  This is a case of breaking Rule #4: Know Your Audience, and it’s a bad one.

Back at Lavo, Rome is having a bad Survivor day and now wants to work with Sol against Teeny.  YHGTBFKM (google it).  Sol is a better player than me, because when Rome says he’d rather have Sol than Teeny, and that Genevieve wants Teeny more than Sol my response would be something like “Looks like we’ll be pulling rocks at the next Tribal Council then”.

Say what now?

She knows she said it but she doesn’t want Sol to know, and if he’s not telling her everything his value drops, and his threat level rises.  The scales be tippin! (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Genevieve] to Carol!), (5 points for “Say the title of the episode” [Genevieve] to Carol!).

Upon her return, Genevieve and Sol tell Teeny about his actions while she was gone.  He’s too chaotic to keep around, right?  RIGHT?  RIGHT? 

At Gata, they can’t figure out how to get the chickens to lay eggs and are so hungry they’ll finally try the fishing gear (WAIT WHAT? THEY HAVEN’T EVEN OPENED IT YET?).  As inept as Andy, Anika and Sierra are, their attempts to use the nets go how you’d expect.

At Tuku, after Tiyana, Caroline, Sue and Kyle return they tell how Lavo will break up after the merge.  Sue immediately tells Gabe about the stunt Tiyana pulled, and that’s why Know Your Audience is a rule. Caroline wants Tuku to stay together but she sees them falling apart at the merge. She tells Tiyana that Gabe knows, and she should do damage control.

Editor’s note: A smart player will hear “Gabe knows” and interpret that as “knows everything”.  Tiyana is not a smart player.

When she goes to apologize, Tiyana admits what she said but lies saying it was in a private conversation with two people.  

I’m sorry but HOW STUPID ARE YOU?  They were all SITTING RIGH THERE LISTENING TO YOU.  And YOU KNOW THEY’VE ALREADY TOLD HIM. Gabe follows Rule #3: Trust But Verify and confirms her lies with Sue and Caroline.

At the immunity challenge, Gata arrives bearing chickens.  Sierra offers Jeff a negotiation.  They don’t want to eat the chickens, and they won’t lay eggs. They offer them back for 24 eggs.  After some haggling, they end up at 18, which will be back at Gata’s camp following the comp.

In ths comp, they must drag a heavy net of coconuts and sandbags while collecting more of both.  When they get to the finish, they will throw use the sandbags to knock a puzzle wall down and then reassemble the puzzle.  First two tribes, immunity. With an extra player each, Gata and Tuku have sit-outs (2 points each for “Volunteer to sit out a challenge” [Anika], [Sue] to Roberta and Sheila!).

Obtaining the first batch of coconuts and sandbags requires dropping them by sawing a rope and somehow, Inept Andy is using the dull edge of the saw even after being told to switch it.  Tuku takes a big lead and nears the puzzle wall before Andy is done sawing.  Awful.

Tuku hits the puzzle wall first, but Sol has a pitcher’s arm and knocks blocks down in columns.  Gata, way behind, earns some derision from Jeff (3 points each for “Jeff says something negative about you in a challenge” [Rachel], [Sierra], [Sam] to Dylan, Lia, and Brian!), (6 points for “Jeff says something negative about you in a challenge” [Anika/Andy] to Roberta!)

Lavo knocks some blocks off the table, but they’re stopping other blocks from dropping which costs them enough time to allow Gata back into the game.  As they do, Tuku finishes clearing their board, winning immunity.  (3 points each for “Win Tribal Immunity” [Sue], [Caroline], [Kyle], [Tiyana], [Gabe] to Sheila, Iyasah, Lia, Dylan and Carol!). Lavo’s inability to clear the final blocks allows Gata to pull even! They both clear the final blocks at about the same time, but Lavo gets back to their mat first, winning immunity! (6 points for “Win Tribal Immunity” [Rome/Teeny] to Angela!), (3 points each for “Win Tribal Immunity” [Sol], [Genevieve] to Iyasah and Carol!)

As a punishment, Gata also loses their flint. It’s going to be tough to cook those eggs without fire….

Back at Gata, Sam sees that Andy can’t get out of his own way, and Anika has no vote, but also has no worries since she sees him as the easy target.  Sam, however, wants Anika out. Andy tries to sell Anika on a keeping him, but she doesn’t buy it.  He says he’ll vote however she wants, just give him a name.  The girls concoct a fake plan for Sam, which Andy tells us he expected – and that they played right into his hands.

I’m not sure what it is about Andy in this piece, but he felt wrong to me. Not just lying – they all do that- but as if we’re peering behind a well-crafted mask. It creeped me out.

Sam has an idol that he hasn’t told Andy about and it’s only good for this tribal. He’s worried that playing it will lose Andy’s trust.  He and Sierra are split on who to go after, as the girls want Andy out, but the guys want Anika.  It’s a sticky wicket!

At tribal, Andy talks about his progress as a player and that also comes across weird to me.  Anika talks about how decisions create different pathways we can go down (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Anika] to Roberta!)  but Rachel won’t share who she believes “we” are. Sam thinks the tribe will be more cohesive after this vote, as does Anika.  Andy, however, sees himself as the “me in the we”.

At the vote, Sam doesn’t play the idol. It’s shocking that he worries that much about Andy but I suspect we don’t know everything yet because the votes come out 3-1 against Anika. Andy’s plan, whatever it was, worked. (4 points for “Received vote against” [Andy/Anika] to Roberta!), (-2 points for “The Tribe Has Spoken” against me!)

What, you didn’t see that coming?

She is completely shocked.  This is the most blindsided anyone has ever been. She doesn’t know which way is up.

So, what does this mean for our scores?  Leader Angela is the first to crest 100 points as she increases her margin on 2nd place Roberta from 13 to 27. Dylan jumps from 7th to 3rd on the strength of Rachel and Tiyana’s reward prowess, proving that you’re never out of this game! Lia moves from 6th to 4th while Shiela drops from 3rd to 5th.  She’s followed closely by Iyasah, who makes the big jump out of the cellar into 6th just a point out of 5th!  Unfortunately, when some move up, others move down which leaves Brian and Carol tied in this week’s cellar.

Survivor 47: Champions League Update #5

 

Before we get started, a reminder of who has whom:

We pick back up at Loser Camp, aka Lavo (Red) where Teeny feels betrayed, bamboozled and lost now that her #1 Kishan is gone (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Teeny] to Marissa!).  Rome, being Rome, needs to berate Teeny for voting against him (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rome] to Kristyn!) .  She stumbles out a few words but all I can picture is

Rome: Bang, zoom! To the moon, Teeny!

Genevieve tells Teeny they are in the middle because Rome won’t work with Sol, and after last week’s bullying it’s tough to envision it going the other way as well.   

We get an early Reward challenge and there are two teams even though three tribes are left. That means we’re drawing for spots.

In this competition, they have to race under an obstacle to get a keys. The keys unlock a ladder. The ladder has to be maneuvered through a puzzle. Once free, climb the ladder to retrieve five balls.  Each person sinks a ball in a hoop. First team to sink all five wins a trip to Survivor Nirvana…I mean, the Sanctuary where they’ll get to spend time with people from other tribes.

Blue team:  Anika, Sol, Rome, Gabe, Andy, Sierra, Genevieve

Yellow team: Sue, Kyle, Teeny, Sam, Rachel, Tiyana, Caroline

While they start out even, Blue gets stuck on the ladder puzzle allowing Yellow a big lead (10 points each for “Jeff says ‘that’s how you do it on Survivor’” [Kyle], [Teeny], [Tiyana] to Jen, Marissa and Jay!), (20 points each for “Jeff says ‘that’s how you do it on Survivor!” [Caroline/Sam], [Sue/Rachel] to Ricky and Dalphyne!).  Blue makes a big comeback and is shooting baskets alongside Yellow. Unfortunately for them, Sports Reporter Sam knocks in the #5 shot FROM WAY DOWNTOWN meaning Yellow wins reward! (3 points each for “Win Tribal Reward” [Kyle], [Teeny], [Tiyana] to Jen, Marissa and Jay!), (6 points each for “Win Tribal Reward” [Caroline/Sam], [Sue/Rachel] to Ricky and Dalphyne!).  Everyone else, got nothing for ya. Head back to camp.

At the Sanctuary, Teeny tells everyone how she’s on the bottom while Gata sings kumbaya saying they go everywhere together.   Tiyana, however, has an agenda.  She has a sharp hatchet, and she wants to bury it in Gabe’s game.  She tells everyone he’s been hunting for idols and is fine with him going home post merge.  It’d be a good game move if no one else on Tuku were there…. but Sue is and she can’t believe what she’s hearing.  Even if she doesn’t know Sue is allied with Gabe, she MUST know that Sue could use this against her.  This is a case of breaking Rule #4: Know Your Audience, and it’s a bad one.

Back at Lavo,  Rome is having a bad Survivor day and now wants to work with Sol against Teeny.  YHGTBFKM (google it).  Sol is a better player than me, because when Rome says he’d rather have Sol than Teeny, and that Genevieve wants Teeny more than Sol my response would be something like “Looks like we’ll be pulling rocks at the next Tribal Council then”.

Say what now?

She knows she said it but she doesn’t want Sol to know, and if he’s not telling her everything his value drops, and his threat level rises.  The scales be tippin! (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Genevieve] to Kristyn!), (5 points for “Say the title of the episode” [Genevieve] to Kristyn!).

Upon her return, Genevieve and Sol tell Teeny about his actions while she was gone.  He’s too chaotic to keep around, right?  RIGHT?  RIGHT? 

At Gata, they can’t figure out how to get the chickens to lay eggs and are so hungry they’ll finally try the fishing gear (WAIT WHAT? THEY HAVEN’T EVEN OPENED IT YET?).  As inept as Andy, Anika and Sierra are, their attempts to use the nets go how you’d expect.

At Tuku, after Tiyana, Caroline, Sue and Kyle return they tell how Lavo will break up after the merge.  Sue immediately tells Gabe about the stunt Tiyana pulled, and that’s why Know Your Audience is a rule. Caroline wants Tuku to stay together but she sees them falling apart at the merge. She tells Tiyana that Gabe knows and she should do damage control.

Editors note: A smart player will hear “Gabe knows” and interpret that as “knows everything”.  Tiyana is not a smart player.

When she goes to apologize, Tiyana admits what she said but lies saying it was in a private conversation with two people.   

I'm sorry but HOW STUPID ARE YOU?  They were all SITTING RIGHT THERE LISTENING TO YOU.  And YOU KNOW THEY’VE ALREADY TOLD HIM. Gabe follows Rule #3: Trust But Verify and confirms her lies with Sue and Caroline.  Idiocy.

At the immunity challenge, Gata arrives bearing chickens.  Sierra offers Jeff a negotiation.  They don’t want to eat the chickens, and they won’t lay eggs. They offer them back for 24 eggs.  After some haggling, they end up at 18 which will be back at Gata’s camp following the comp.

In ths comp, they have to drag a heavy net of coconuts and sandbags while collecting more of both.  When they get to the finish, they will throw use the sandbags to knock a puzzle wall down and then reassemble the puzzle.  First two tribes, immunity. With an extra player each, Gata and Tuku have sit outs (2 points each for “Volunteer to sit out a challenge” [Anika], [Sue] to me and Dalphyne!).

Obtaining the first batch of coconuts and sandbags requires dropping them by sawing a rope and somehow, Inept Andy is using the dull edge of the saw even after being told to switch it.  Tuku takes a big lead and nears the puzzle wall before Andy is done sawing.  Awful.

Tuku hits the puzzle wall first but Sol has a pitcher’s arm and knocks blocks down by the row.  Gata, way behind, earns some derision from Jeff (3 points each for “Jeff says something negative about you in a challenge” [Rachel], [Andy], [Sam] to Dalphyne, Jay and Ricky!), (6 points for “Jeff says something negative about you in a challenge” [Anika/Sierra] to me!)

Lavo knocks some blocks off the table, but they’re stopping other blocks from dropping which costs them enough time to allow Gata back into the game.  As they do, Tuku finishes clearing their board, winning immunity.  (3 points each for “Win Tribal Immunity” [Sue], [Caroline], [Kyle], [Tiyana], [Gabe] to Dalphyne, Ricky, Jen, Jay and Carol!). Lavo’s inability to clear the final blocks allows Gata to pull even! They both clear the final blocks at about the same time but Lavo gets back to their mat first, winning immunity! (6 points for “Win Tribal Immunity” [Rome/Genevieve] to Kristyn!), (3 points each for “Win Tribal Immunity” [Sol], [Teeny] to Carol and Marissa!)

As a punishment, Gata also loses their flint. It’s going to be tough to cook those eggs without fire….

Back at Gata, Sam sees that Andy can’t get out of his own way, and Anika has no vote, but also has no worries since she sees him as the easy target.  Sam, however, wants Anika out. Andy tries to sell Anika on a keeping him, but she doesn’t buy it.  He says he’ll vote however she wants, just give him a name.  The girls concoct a fake plan for Sam, which Andy tells us he expected – and that they played right into his hands.

I’m not sure what it is about Andy in this piece, but he felt wrong to me. Not just lying – they all do that- but as if we’re peering behind a well-crafted mask. It creeped me out.

Sam has an idol that he hasn’t told Andy about and it’s only good for this tribal. He’s worried that playing it loses Andy’s trust.  He and Sierra are split on who to go after, as the girls want Andy out but the guys want Anika.  It’s a sticky wicket!

At tribal, Andy talks about his progress as a player and that also comes across weird to me.  Anika talks about how decisions create different pathways we can go down (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Anika] to me!)  but Rachel won’t share who she believes “we” are. Sam thinks the tribe will be more cohesive after this vote, as does Anika.  Andy, however, sees himself as the “me in the we”.

At the vote, Sam doesn’t play the idol. It’s shocking that he worries that much about Andy but I suspect we don’t know everything yet because the votes come out 3-1 against Anika. Andy’s plan, whatever it was, worked. (1 point for “Received vote against” [Andy] to Jay!) (3 points for “Received vote against” [Anika] to me!), (-2 points for “The Tribe Has Spoken” against me!)

She is completely shocked.  This is the most blindsided anyone has ever been. She doesn’t know which way is up and it takes a solid minute and a half for her to compose herself for Jeff to snuff her torch.

So, what does this mean for our scores?  Tons of movement on the scoreboard! We have a new leader!  On the strength of Jeff’s excited exhortations in the reward challenge, and winning immunity and reward, both Leader Ricky and 2nd place Dalphyne pass forever-champ, and previous leader 3rd place Kristyn.  Jay drops to 4th place just two points behind.  Marissa jumps from 7th to 5th thanks to Teeny, pushing me to 6th, only a few points ahead of 7th place Carol.  Jen…I’m sorry to say…remains at the bottom of the pack.

Big Brother 26: Update #30 - Finale

 

Before we get started in the final update, a reminder of who has whom:

On to the Finale!

We kick off with the final three in the opening vignette (2 points each for “Speak in opening vignette” [Makensy], [Cam], [Chelsie] to Teresa, Tessa and Viviana!). A fun note: That’s only the 2nd time we’ve heard from Cam in the opening vignette – both in the last week! Makensy and Chelsie were similarly ignored in the opening vignettes – it’s their 3rd time each!

Season 16 winner Derrick introduces the HOH Part 1 competition and they have hold on tight! After just 21 minutes (easy for me to say), Makensy drops (1 point for “Mention ‘I need to win HOH Part 2’” [Makensy] to Teresa!), leaving Chelsie and The Warrior to battle it out (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’ [The Warrior] to Tessa!), (1 point for “Mention ‘I need to win this competition” [The Warrior] to Tessa!).

In true Warrior fashion, he drops meaning Chelsie is going to HOH Part 3! (7 points for “Win HOH Part 1” [Chelsie] to Viviana!). 

HOH Part 2 brings us to Ainsley’s core, and Derrick tells us this is how we finally defeat her (5 points each for “Mention a previous season’s player [Derrick]”, [Makensy], [Chelsie] to Teresa and Viviana!). They have to unhook buttons from a puzzle and then connect differing length wires to sink Ainsley’s core, thereby saving the world.

Side note: This is easily the longest any theme or twist has gone in BB history.  I think that’s cool.

Makensy gets out to a quick lead and finishes part 2 before The Warrior finishes Part 1.  In short order, Makensy wins HOH Part 2!  (9 points for “Win HOH Part 2” [Makensy] to Teresa!).  Ainsley is dead, Makensy and Chelsie can face off for the final HOH in peace!

We see both winners worrying over their “If I win” decision on who to take. This is an easy one – if you want to win, you take Cam.  He’s done nothing and he’s a lousy speaker.  So of course, they won’t do that.  Sigh.

Tell ‘em, Coach

The final HOH competition is the standard – answer unbelievably tricky and specific questions about each juror’s game.  Winner is whoever has the most points after 6 questions.  Both look like they’re somewhat guessing, somewhat knowing but they’re tied

Chelsie finally gets one wrong! Makensy gets the final one right!  Makensy wins 6-5! (11 points for “Win HOH Part 3” [Makensy] to Teresa!). 

At the final eviction, Chelsie’s speech is good enough that I wouldn’t want to speak against her (and I’m pretty good at that kind of stuff).   Makensy says she is born ready to make this decision.  She chooses to….evict Cam out of loyalty to Cheslie. (1 point for “Received vote against” [Cam] to Tessa!), (-2 points for “Evicted” against Tessa!), (2 points for “Jury member” to Tessa!), (1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Chelsie] to Vivana!)

That’s the only vote Cam had against him all game.  Chelsie had zero and Makensy is still a beautiful idiot.

Tell ‘em again, Coach!

The juror questions are solid, with Angela’s “…filled with lies and deceit” being the spiciest by far.  Makensy thinks her best move was getting Leah out, and Chelsie takes credit for it just a minute later. That shows why taking Chelsie was idiotic – she was so inside Makensy’s head that Makensy made the move Chelsie wanted and is convinced she did it on her own…and it was her BEST move.

Oy

Chelsie is clearly an accomplished public speaker.  Her answers are forceful, polished, and clear.  She lays out point after point after point and has a tremendous amount of positive energy.  Makensy does well but there’s no stopping this train.

At the end, Chelsie wins in a clean sweep!  Makensy gets 2nd place, The Warrior 3rd.  (15 points for “Winner” [Chelsie] to Viviana!), (8 points for “2nd place” [Makensy] to Teresa!), and (5 points for “3rd place” [The Warrior] to Tessa!).

AND TUCKER WINS AMERICA’S FAVORITE PLAYER – the first non-winner, non-juror ever to win it! (12 points for “America’s Favorite Player” [Tucker] to Brian!)

Being America’s Favorite Player also put Tucker over the top in our game as MVP. (5 points for “MVP” [Tucker] to Brian!).  He was so dominant he beat out Makensy by 8 points and Angela by 9 without making it to jury. 

LVP (Least Valuable Player) goes to Lisa who earned just 32 points in her brief stay. (5 points for “LVP” [Lisa] to Demi!)
