We pick back up at Loser Camp, aka Lavo (Red) where Teeny
feels betrayed, bamboozled and lost now that her #1 Kishan is gone (1 point
for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Teeny] to Angela!). Rome, being Rome, needs to berate Teeny for
voting against him (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rome] to Angela!) . She stumbles out a few words but all I can
picture is
5 bonus points if
you tell me who Ralph normally wanted to send to the moon. No Googling,
Binging, ChatGPTing or anythingelsing! Tell no one else. Offer good until next
update.
Genevieve tells Teeny they are in the middle because Rome
won’t work with Sol, and after last week’s bullying it’s tough to envision it
going the other way as well.
We get an early Reward challenge and there are two teams
even though three tribes are left. That means we’re drawing for spots. For the new players, team events like this are
scored as tribes so members of the winning team receive Win Tribe Reward points.
A note for new players: when they do events like this, the teams are scored as tribes.
In this competition, they have to race under an obstacle to
get keys. The keys unlock a ladder. The ladder has to be maneuvered through a puzzle.
Once free, climb the ladder to retrieve five balls. Each person sinks a ball in a hoop. First
team to sink all five wins a trip to Survivor Nirvana…I mean, the Sanctuary
where they’ll get to spend time with people from other tribes.
Blue team: Anika,
Sol, Rome, Gabe, Andy, Sierra, Genevieve
Yellow team: Sue, Kyle, Teeny, Sam, Rachel, Tiyana, Caroline
While they start out even, Blue gets stuck on the ladder
puzzle allowing Yellow a big lead (10 points each for “Jeff says ‘that’s how
you do it on Survivor’” [Kyle], [Teeny], [Rachel], [Caroline], [Sam] to Lia,
Angela, Sheila, Iyasah and Brian!), (20 points for “Jeff says ‘that’s how you
do it on Survivor!” [Rachel/Tiyana] to Dylan!). Blue makes a big comeback and is shooting
baskets alongside Yellow. Unfortunately for them, Sports Reporter Sam knocks in
the #5 shot FROM WAY DOWNTOWN meaning Yellow wins reward! (3 points each for
“Win Tribal Reward” [Kyle], [Teeny], [Rachel], [Caroline], [Sam] to Lia, Angela,
Sheila, Iyasah and Brian!), (6 points for “Win Tribal Reward” [Rachel/Tiyana]
to Dylan!). ). Everyone else, got nothing for ya. Head back
to camp.
At the Sanctuary, Teeny tells everyone how she’s on the bottom
while Gata sings kumbaya saying they go everywhere together. Tiyana, however, has an agenda. She has a sharp hatchet, and she wants to
bury it in Gabe’s game. She tells
everyone he’s been hunting for idols and is fine with him going home post merge.
It’d be a good game move if no one else
on Tuku were there…. but Sue is and she can’t believe what she’s hearing. Even if she doesn’t know Sue is allied with
Gabe, she MUST know that Sue could use this against her. This is a case of breaking
Rule #4: Know Your Audience, and it’s a bad one.
Back at Lavo, Rome is having a bad Survivor day and now
wants to work with Sol against Teeny. YHGTBFKM
(google it). Sol is a better player than
me, because when Rome says he’d rather have Sol than Teeny, and that Genevieve
wants Teeny more than Sol my response would be something like “Looks like we’ll
be pulling rocks at the next Tribal Council then”.
Genevieve’s response when Sol asks why she prefers Teeny over Sol results in one of the greatest faces in Survivor history
She knows she said it but she doesn’t want Sol to know, and
if he’s not telling her everything his value drops, and his threat level
rises. The scales be tippin! (1 point
for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Genevieve] to Carol!), (5 points for “Say the
title of the episode” [Genevieve] to Carol!).
Upon her return, Genevieve and Sol tell Teeny about his
actions while she was gone. He’s too
chaotic to keep around, right?
RIGHT? RIGHT?
At Gata, they can’t figure out how to get the chickens to
lay eggs and are so hungry they’ll finally try the fishing gear (WAIT WHAT?
THEY HAVEN’T EVEN OPENED IT YET?). As
inept as Andy, Anika and Sierra are, their attempts to use the nets go how you’d
expect.
At Tuku, after Tiyana, Caroline, Sue and Kyle return they
tell how Lavo will break up after the merge.
Sue immediately tells Gabe about the stunt Tiyana pulled, and that’s why
Know Your Audience is a rule. Caroline wants Tuku to stay together but she sees
them falling apart at the merge. She tells Tiyana that Gabe knows, and she
should do damage control.
Editor’s note: A smart player will hear “Gabe knows” and interpret
that as “knows everything”. Tiyana is
not a smart player.
When she goes to apologize, Tiyana admits what she said but
lies saying it was in a private conversation with two people.
I’m sorry but HOW STUPID ARE YOU? They were all SITTING RIGH THERE LISTENING TO YOU. And YOU KNOW THEY’VE ALREADY TOLD HIM. Gabe follows Rule #3: Trust But Verify and confirms her lies with Sue and Caroline.
At the immunity challenge, Gata arrives bearing
chickens. Sierra offers Jeff a
negotiation. They don’t want to eat the
chickens, and they won’t lay eggs. They offer them back for 24 eggs. After some haggling, they end up at 18, which
will be back at Gata’s camp following the comp.
In ths comp, they must drag a heavy net of coconuts and
sandbags while collecting more of both.
When they get to the finish, they will throw use the sandbags to knock a
puzzle wall down and then reassemble the puzzle. First two tribes, immunity. With an extra
player each, Gata and Tuku have sit-outs (2 points each for “Volunteer to
sit out a challenge” [Anika], [Sue] to Roberta and Sheila!).
Obtaining the first batch of coconuts and sandbags requires dropping
them by sawing a rope and somehow, Inept Andy is using the dull edge of the saw
even after being told to switch it. Tuku
takes a big lead and nears the puzzle wall before Andy is done sawing. Awful.
Tuku hits the puzzle wall first, but Sol has a pitcher’s arm
and knocks blocks down in columns. Gata,
way behind, earns some derision from Jeff (3 points each for “Jeff says
something negative about you in a challenge” [Rachel], [Sierra], [Sam] to
Dylan, Lia, and Brian!), (6 points for “Jeff says something negative about you
in a challenge” [Anika/Andy] to Roberta!)
Lavo knocks some blocks off the table, but they’re stopping
other blocks from dropping which costs them enough time to allow Gata back into
the game. As they do, Tuku finishes
clearing their board, winning immunity. (3
points each for “Win Tribal Immunity” [Sue], [Caroline], [Kyle], [Tiyana], [Gabe]
to Sheila, Iyasah, Lia, Dylan and Carol!). Lavo’s inability to clear the
final blocks allows Gata to pull even! They both clear the final blocks at about
the same time, but Lavo gets back to their mat first, winning immunity! (6
points for “Win Tribal Immunity” [Rome/Teeny] to Angela!), (3 points each for “Win
Tribal Immunity” [Sol], [Genevieve] to Iyasah and Carol!)
As a punishment, Gata also loses their flint. It’s going to
be tough to cook those eggs without fire….
Back at Gata, Sam sees that Andy can’t get out of his own
way, and Anika has no vote, but also has no worries since she sees him as the
easy target. Sam, however, wants Anika
out. Andy tries to sell Anika on a keeping him, but she doesn’t buy it. He says he’ll vote however she wants, just
give him a name. The girls concoct a
fake plan for Sam, which Andy tells us he expected – and that they played right
into his hands.
I’m not sure what it is about Andy in this piece, but he felt
wrong to me. Not just lying – they all do that- but as if we’re peering behind
a well-crafted mask. It creeped me out.
Sam has an idol that he hasn’t told Andy about and it’s only
good for this tribal. He’s worried that playing it will lose Andy’s trust. He and Sierra are split on who to go after,
as the girls want Andy out, but the guys want Anika. It’s a sticky wicket!
At tribal, Andy talks about his progress as a player and
that also comes across weird to me. Anika
talks about how decisions create different pathways we can go down (1 point
for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Anika] to Roberta!) but Rachel won’t share who she believes “we”
are. Sam thinks the tribe will be more cohesive after this vote, as does Anika. Andy, however, sees himself as the “me in the
we”.
At the vote, Sam doesn’t play the idol. It’s shocking that he worries that much about Andy but I suspect we don’t know everything yet because the votes come out 3-1 against Anika. Andy’s plan, whatever it was, worked. (4 points for “Received vote against” [Andy/Anika] to Roberta!), (-2 points for “The Tribe Has Spoken” against me!)
She is completely shocked. This is the most blindsided anyone has ever been. She doesn’t know which way is up.
For his part, Andy could not be happier
So, what does this mean for our scores? Leader Angela is the first to crest 100 points as she increases her margin on 2nd place Roberta from 13 to 27. Dylan jumps from 7th to 3rd on the strength of Rachel and Tiyana’s reward prowess, proving that you’re never out of this game! Lia moves from 6th to 4th while Shiela drops from 3rd to 5th. She’s followed closely by Iyasah, who makes the big jump out of the cellar into 6th just a point out of 5th! Unfortunately, when some move up, others move down which leaves Brian and Carol tied in this week’s cellar.
