Survivor 48 Rules

Welcome to Pretend Points Fantasy Survivor 48!

In this game, we pick players from Survivor 48 and then gain or lose points based on the things they do, the phrases they say, the comps they win, the showmances they enter and many other categories! The full scoring list is below. I’ll post a weekly recap and scoring update each week to the blog and send a link in our group text.  Most weeks, I’ll add hidden bonus points to the update. Follow the instructions and bonus points are yours! 

Get to know each of the Survivors

The Draft:

• Survivor 48 begins on Wednesday, February 26^th, which is not scored
• Scoring begins with the March 4^th episode
• I’ll setup a group text / Facebook chat where each of us will pick two (2) survivors
• I will randomly determine the order in which we pick using The Wheel of Names, record and post the draft order on YouTube and share a link with everyone. 
• The first person chosen will draft first, second goes second etc…until the 8^th person picks.  Then we go backwards so the person who picks 8^th also picks 9^th, the person who picks 7^th picks 10^th and so on until we each have two  (2) survivors
• Any survivor not picked goes into the “Lifeline” pool
• If your survivor is voted out, you will choose a replacement from any remaining survivor in the Lifeline pool
• At any point, you can change a current survivor for someone in the Lifeline pool. 
• You CAN trade survivors, if you find a willing trade partner
• All roster changes (trades, lifeline moves) take effect in the following episode
• When your survivors have been voted out, and there are no more Lifelines, your game is over.
• The player with the most points at the end of the season wins!

Scoring:

Scoring only counts for the new episodes aired on CBS. Often, CBS replays scenes (e.g. “Previously on Survivor…”).  Replayed scenes and recap episodes are not scored.

Other notes:

• I offer bonus points once or twice in each recap.  Generally, they are music, movie or other side joke type references.  In all cases, internet sleuthing (Google, ChatGPT/other AI tools, Reddit etc..) are not allowed.  We use the honor system here and we’re playing a game for fun.  Either you know it or you don’t.
• CBS occasionally introduces new Survivors after our draft. If this happens, they become Lifelines and can be picked up as described above.
• CBS occasionally introduces new twists (ex: Journeys, Redemption Island).  I'll do my best to fit those twists into existing scoring categories.  If they don’t fit, I’ll create new categories and retroactively add points. I try not to do this.
• Feel free to use the group chat to talk about their game or our game but try not to spoil things in the group chat!  If you hate group chats, please mute it.
