Second, 5 bonus points each to Will, Amy, Blake,
Morgan, Melissa, Angela and Slater for knowing Michael Myers is from Halloween
or that Anger is from Inside Out! No bonus points for me this week, alas.
On to the update!
We open Sunday’s show with Rachel getting gooed by America. (2 points for “Speak in opening vignette” [Rachel] to Will and Kat!).)
Mickey feels bad that Dr. No went home, but he was a big
target so she’s counting that as a win in her book. Kelley feels like she’s the
season’s cockroach and can’t be killed while Ava has no clue what’s happening
and absolutely MUST win HOH so she can get some control! (2 points for
“Mention ‘in this game’ and ‘I need to win HOH’” [Ava] to Nickole!)
Rachel is very upset that her politicking didn’t save
him. (1 point for “Shown on camera
crying” [Rachel] to Will and Kat!).). Keanu tries consoling her as she
wonders if she’s poisonous (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rachel] to
Will and Kat!). Keanu tries to spin that as respect and recommends steering
clear of Ashley as the house is annoyed with her, which sends Rachel spiraling
even further. I’m not sure if Keanu plans to cause chaotic waves, but he’s
definitely good at doing it!
Ashley worries that her vote misstep will paint a target on
her, throwing suspicion anywhere else. Mickey and Morgan assume it was her, and
Will knows it was due to their hallway conversation but he’s keeping his yap
shut tight! Is she a bigger target than
Keanu now? I doubt it, but it’s closer
than it was.
At the HOH comp, they have a head to head battle with the
winner nominating the next two contestants. Last player standing wins HOH, and both
Vince and Rachel definitely need to win it. (1 point for “Mention ‘I need to
win HOH’” [Rachel] to Will and Kat!)., (1 point for “Mention ‘I need to win
HOH’” [Vince] to Amy!)
They take turns nominating and eliminating each other, with offense
being taken at each nomination. No one
nominates Ava until the end – which should tell you something – and she
eliminates Rylie and Will to win HOH! (5 points for “Win HOH” [Ava] to
Nickole!).
Almost no one has talked game with Ava, and she doesn’t want
to do 1-1’s, so she’s a true wild card. Ava tells Rachel and Zach they’re safe
this week. Vince, Keanu assume they’re going up. But who will be the 3rd
nominee? Mickey balks when Ava says Ashley and basically browbeats her into
choosing someone else. When Ava, Will and Mickey meet up later, they start
talking about nominating Zach, who Ava had already told was safe.
At the same time, Rylie and Katherine become an official
showmance!
(8 points for “Be part of an official showmance” [Rylie]
to Blake and Slater!)
(8 points for “Be part of an official showmance”
[Katherine] to Scott!)
Vince tries to smooth things over with Rachel, but she sees
right through him, so he tries waterworks instead, but she knows they’re
crocodile tears (1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Vince] to Amy!). He tries it on Will too, but Will just
wants him to knock it off. Sorry guy,
that kind of stuff doesn’t work on Gen X. Go find a Millennial to cry to.
At the nomination ceremony, Ava claims her nominations were
people most shaken by her winning HOH – that’s why it’s called Big Brother and
not Squatters Rights! In the end, Mickey’s arguments carry the day. Zach joins
Vince and Keanu on the block
(3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Zach] to no one!)
(3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Vince] to Amy!)
(3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Keanu] to Scott,
Amy, Morgan, Melissa, Aly, and Nickole!).
(1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to Amy!)
On Wednesday, Ava opens the show (2 points for “Speak in
opening vignette” [Ava] to Nickole!). Vince, Zach, Morgan and Mickey are
shown solidifying an alliance
(3 points for “Name an alliance” and “Be part of an
official alliance” [Mickey] (The Melting Pot) to No one
(3 points for “Be part of an official alliance” [Vince]
to Amy!)
(3 points for “Be part of an official alliance” [Zach] to
no one!)
(3 points for “Be part of an official alliance” [Morgan]
to Will, Aly and Lia!)
Ava nominated them because they don’t trust her. Keanu isn’t
shocked, Vince thinks his game is blown and after Ava told him he was safe, Zach
is completely blindsided. Rachel loves
it because all three had a hand in evicting Jimmy (2 points for “Shown on
camera in gray” [Jimmy] to no one!)
Will appreciates the nominations as big moves – mostly
because he’s not one of them. Zach tells us about his BB buyout power, but he
doesn’t want to give her $10,000 just to get off the block. Mickey isn’t happy
about Zach and Vince being up, but “it’s the price she had to pay to keep
Ashley safe”. The price MICKEY had to
pay. Not Zach. Not Vince.
Ava and Vince don’t miss a step dancing the Liars Dance
together. Both know Vince is the target, neither says it. Classic. (1 point for “Mention ‘in this
game’” [Ava] to Nickole!). When talking with Will and Morgan, Ashley asks the
gamer how she feels about her buddies being put up, Morgan says if the shields
go home, the person who sent them out will follow.
Will sees this as a threat to Ava. When he tells Mickey and Ashley about it,
Mickey runs to Ava. Mickey didn’t want this information to rile up Ava, but it
definitely does. Morgan is now the renomination, should the Veto be used.
Katherine and Will are picked to play in Veto, meaning
Morgan could be back doored, should the Veto be used. Katherine and Will will
join the nominees in the competition
(1 point for “Picked for Veto via random draw”
[Katherine] to Scott!)
(1 point for “Picked for veto via random draw” [Will] to
Angela and Lia!)
Mickey tries to talk Ava out of Morgan as the replacement
nomination, but Ava’s having none of it, and she already gave in on
Ashley.
At the Veto comp, they have to slide a disk down a large
table and get points based on where it lands. Lowest point total each round is
eliminated, and going off the table is a 0. When they are eliminated, they open
a box containing a prize, a punishment or the Veto.
Will is eliminated first and opens the Veto. I suspect he won’t hold it for long. Keanu is eliminated second and trades Will a punishment for the Veto. Zach is eliminated third and wins a London vacation but being a great guy – and not wanting a larger target due to the $10,000 he already has banked – he trades it to will and takes the punishment. Having to choose a punishment-mate, he chooses the iconic Rachel! (1 point for “Mention ‘Rachel is iconic’” [Zach] to no one!)
Ava is eliminated fourth and it’s down to Vince and
Katherine in the finals, and she eliminates him! Despite his pleas, Katherine chooses the Veto
and lets Vince keep his puny $5,000. In
the end:
(4 points for “Win Veto” [Katherine] to Scott!)
(8 points for “Earn a punishment” [Zach] to no one!)
(8 points for “Earn a punishment” [Rachel] to Will and Kat!).
(8 points for “Wear a stupid costume” [Vince] to Amy!)
(8 points for “Wear a stupid costume” [Keanu] to Scott,
Amy, Morgan, Melissa, Aly, and Nickole!)
(7 points for “Win a prize” [Will] to Angela and Lia!)
(7 points for “Win a cash bonus” [Ava] to Nickole!)
(1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rylie] to Blake
and Slater!)
Ava and Will celebrate, and he feels indebted to Zach for
the trip. Ava may ask Katherine to use
the Veto on Zach so she can put up Morgan (1 point for “Mention ‘doing that
would be iconic’” [Ava] to Nickole!)
Vince debuts his punishment – he’s dressed as a hard-boiled
egg in a detective outfit and it’s AMAZING
Keanu shows off his glutes in his Butt-ler outfit, complete
with a tray on his ass. He has to make
and serve pigs in a blanket whenever called, including in the middle of the
night.
Rachel and Zach have 12 hours to steal $100,000 from the BB
Bank. There is an open safe with 4
“safe” money bags. Every other one explodes in blue goop. And they get blasted, over and over…and
over…and over. And when they finally finish
at 5 AM they are shivering cold and exhausted.
Ashley tells Rachel how Zach, Morgan, Mickey and Vince don’t
want her to make it too far into Jury, and when Morgan goes to reconnect with
Rachel….it goes sideways. Morgan MEANS
TO SAY she wants Rachel to get to jury and beyond. But she SAYS “I want you in
jury”, and Rachel takes it as an insult.
And Rachel. Is. PISSED!
Irate, she tells Katherine that Morgan wanted to break up
the showmance in hopes that Katherine would use the veto and Ava would
renominate Morgan. When Katherine talks
with Ava about it, they seem to be on the same wavelength: Morgan needs to go.
Before the Veto meeting, Vince is determined to stay (1
point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to Amy!) Zach sits on the horns
of a dilemma. He doesn’t want to use his
power if it means Morgan will go up. (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Zach]
to no one!). At the Veto meeting, Zach
chooses NOT to use his power, and Katherine chooses NOT to use the POV which is
a total switch up from what we were shown. She’s not working with any of them,
so no reason to change the nominations.
I feel like there’s backstory there that we weren’t shown.
Zach and Rachel’s Blue Man Goop punishment opens Thursday’s
show
(2 points for “Speak in opening vignette” [Zach] to no
one!)
(2 points for “Speak in opening vignette” [Rachel] to Will and Kat!)
Rachel wants to see Zach go, and he could’ve saved himself,
but he didn’t want to see Morgan as the replacement (1 point for “Mention ‘in
this game’” [Zach] to no one!)
Ava may say she’s ok with her decisions, but her tears tell
a different story (1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Ava] to Nickole!). Morgan
hopes Keanu is still on the block – her nightmare scenario is choosing between
Vince and Zach.
Ashley and Mickey don’t think it’ll be a house vote, and
Mickey is confident she can get six people to vote “in a way that’s best for my
game”, and that’s to evict Vince. Ashley
sees Mickey’s HOH-itis has metastasized into a full-on case of Micktatorship
and tells Will she’s done with Mickey.
Rylie and Kelley are both on board to keep Vince and Keanu (1
point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rylie] to Blake and Slater!) and when Mickey tells Zach that Vince has
the votes to stay, it drives him to tears (1 point for “Shown on camera
crying” [Zach] to no one!).
Both her allies being on the block has Morgan conflicted. Vince
convinces her that Zach would choose Lauren over her. Zach breaks Rule
#1: STFU, telling Morgan that he didn’t use his power because he knew she’d
be in danger if he did.
I’ve been writing these updates for years. I can’t recall ever thinking this type of
sharing was a good idea. Until now. This is a GREAT idea on Zach’s part.
For her part… (1 point for “Shown on camera crying”
[Morgan] to Will, Aly and Lia!)
At the BB Blockbuster, it’s the BB version of the Towers of Hanoi,
which you may recall from literally any RPG video game made in the last 20
years. Seriously, some version of this
game is in every game I can think of. They
have to move colored gems together onto the same pole without putting any on
the ground.
Zach flies around like a man possessed, and Vince is only a
little slower. Keanu seems to be moving
much slower but under control. Zach looks like he’s making progress, but Keanu
has definitely seen this puzzle before. Calm
as could be, he finishes his puzzle and presses his button winning the BB
Blockbuster (4 points for “Win special comp” [Keanu] to Scott, Amy, Morgan,
Melissa, Aly, and Nickole!).
Please. Let him win HOH.
I NEED to see him win HOH!
The house does clap when he’s announced as the winner, but
not everyone is happy about it (1 point for “Shown on camera crying [Vince]
to Amy!)
Before we get to the vote, a reminder that Mickey said she
was confident she could get six votes.
At the vote, Mickey and Rachel vote to evict Vince. Everyone
else votes to evict Zach. So much for the Micktatorship!
(2 points for “Received vote against” [Vince] to Amy!)
(8 points for “Received vote against” [Zach] to no one!)
(-2 points for “Evicted” [Zach] against no one!)
(5 points for “Mention a previous season’s player”
[Rachel] to Will and Kat!).)
Tears flow freely as Zach walks out the door. His eviction
seems to be a genuinely emotional moment.
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Lauren] to No
one!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Mickey] to No one!)
Unfortunately for Zach, his embarrassment isn’t over yet as
Julie slaps him for not using his power!
So, what does that mean for our scores?
While Keanu was selected by 6 of 12 players, with 15 points he
put up the 5th best total. It was Zach, whose 8-point eviction powered
him to 25 points, which led all scorers. He was closely followed by Rachel,
Vince and Ava at 21, 20 and 19 respectively.
Will retains a lead on me in 2nd place, despite
picking Morgan who only put up 4 points. Melissa remains in 3rd, and Morgan
in 4th as they both chose Keanu and Kelley, whose 0-point week comes
as a shock to everyone! 8 points separates
4th to 9th as Morgan leads Amy and Kat (who tied for 5th),
Nickole in 7th, and Slater and Aly who drop to 8th and 9th
respectively. The bottom quarter of the league suffer from Ashley-itis as both
Angela and Blake gained exactly nothing from the lawyer. That’ll teach ‘em to
trust lawyers!
