Second, 5 bonus points each to Will, Morgan, Melissa,
Aly, Angela and Slater for knowing that Vince’s “just say yes” approach to
Big Brother mirrors Jim Carrey’s “Say yes to everything” in Yes Man!
Julie telling Rylie to leave kicks off the week, meaning no
opening vignette points for anyone!
We start the week with a special 30 minute BB unlocked. I
said at the beginning of the season the Friday episodes would not be scored.
Since this is a Sunday episode, I am scoring any new things that
happen. I don’t hate myself (or you
all!) enough to write a narrative for BB Unlocked, so, here are the points that
were earned during that part of the episode:
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Ava] to Blake and
Nickole!!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Vince] to, Amy,
Aly, Morgan and Slater!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Katherine] to
Melissa!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Kelley] to no one!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera in gray” [Rylie] to Scott,
Blake and Slater!)
Katherine wants everyone in on Rylie’s eviction gone. Mickey
thinks Morgan isn’t a good alliance member because she has the audacity to
prioritize Vince over her. Rachel believes her HOH was a master class on how to
play Big Brother, including the very last moments where she convinced Ava to
vote out Rylie after the Blockbuster. Vince whines and cries that he’s dead to
half the house (it’s Big Brother…. you’re never dead until you’re evicted).
Keanu lost his best friend but is fine with the move since it helped his new ally,
Rachel.
Rachel wonders about Vince’s true loyalties, but she
shouldn’t spend too much time on it. He has none. Vince doesn’t believe the
Judges have his back so this next HOH is crucial for him (1 point for
“Mention ‘I need to win HOH’ [Vince] to Amy, Aly, Morgan and Slater!) and (1
point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to Amy, Aly, Morgan and Slater!)
While ecstatic Ashley thinks everything worked out how it
should have, Mickey is somehow upset that he’s gone. I think this was a sympathy ploy, and it
failed. Ashley, Rachel and Will all
agree they are done with her.
Keanu starts to question his burgeoning Final 2 relationship with Rachel after Katherine and Lauren tell the Barbarian they’ll vote for Rachel over him if they’re in the Final 2 seats.
At the HOH comp, they’re hanging outside of a train for the
Wall comp! Extra points for owning whoever wins this iconic comp!
Everyone has targets – Katherine wants Rachel, Keanu needs
to outlast half the house who want him out and Kelley – who tells us this not
the first time she’s hung off the side of a train – wants Vince out.
Ashley and Will are the first to fall, followed soon by
Morgan who’s irate at dropping so soon as it was her life’s dream it was to win
the Wall. After Mickey and Ashley follow Morgan, it leaves Vince alone against
Kelley, Keanu, Katherine and Lauren – the four people he just burned in the
Rylie vote. If he falls, he lands on the
block.
Kelley loves this competition and is so confident in herself, that she stretches out on purpose…and falls.
Keanu knows he won’t win, and his enemies are all out, so he
drops leaving Katherine, Lauren and Vince – the tiny people. After Lauren drops, Vince tries to talk
Katherine into a deal, but she wants nothing to do with him after he voted out
Rylie. She tries to hang on out of spite,
but she can’t take the continued rain and goo, and she falls leaving Vince the
winner! (5 points for “Win HOH”
[Vince] to Amy, Aly, Morgan and Slater!)
Now the question becomes “Who will Vince nominate”? If he had his way, he’d be the first HOH to not nominate anyone for fear of angering them. He asks Kelley if she would be ok going on the block for him again. Look at this picture and tell me how she felt:
(1
point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Kelley] to no one!)
His Rylie vote has Keanu, Lauren and Katherine feeling betrayed, but he promises they are all safe, of course. Rachel isn’t sure she’s safe despite being in the Judges together. Keanu throws her name out to Vince, but on one hand Vince wants to “be the bigger person” and show her they can work together.
On the other, she has been gunning for him and did nominate
him last week. Morgan recognizes that a Rachel nomination breaks up the Judges,
and she doesn’t want to be forced to choose between them.
Nominating Rachel is the move a strong player would
make. Instead, Vince nominates Mickey,
Ava and Kelley.
(3 points for “Nominated for Eviction” [Mickey] to no one!)
(3 points for “Nominated for Eviction” [Ava] to Blake and
Nickole!!)
(3 points for “Nominated for Eviction” [Kelley] to no one!)
In his DR session, Vince thinks “Mickey has been playing a great game. The majority of the house is upset with her”.
I want to root for Vince, but he makes it difficult.
We open Wednesday’s show with Ava who isn’t surprised to be
on the block, and a completely betrayed Kelley (1 point for “Mention ‘in
this game’” [Kelley] to no one!).
Mickey has gone full-on Micktator, mean girl blaming Morgan
for being nominated, despite Morgan not being the HOH. Morgan sees it as
Mickey’s chickens coming home to roost. Morgan confides in Will and Ashley that
Mickey has lost it, and not to use the veto on her if they win it.
Keanu has bought into Kat’s belief that Rachel wins if she’s next to him, so he’s ready to break up his Final 2 with her. Vince promises to use the veto on Kelley if he wins to backdoor Rachel. The Yes Man hard at work. She doesn’t buy it anymore. In fact, she’s starting to realize that Keanu truly does have her back and believes him when he says he’d use the veto on her.
Katherine rightly doesn’t trust Vince and thinks she’s an easy renom target now that Rylie is gone (1 point for “Shown on camera in gray” [Rylie] to Scott, Blake and Slater!). This girl is out for Rachel’s blood, and Lauren thinks it’d be stupid if Vince renominated anyone else
Rarely seen and heard on TV, Will reminds us he’s still in the house by complaining about life with 20-year olds. He wants to be able to fast-forward through the boring conversations (with Morgan), Rewind to make sure he heard things (with Mickey) and pause to get popcorn during the good parts. He’s a riot and we are worse off for not hearing more from him.
Morgan spends more time making sure the Judges aren’t
touched, convincing Vince that it’s too early to take a shot at Rachel. Vince just doesn’t want to look stupid on
national television. Too late for that,
guy. Morgan thinks if he nominates
Rachel, he loses the alliance. If she nominates him, she loses the alliance.
Authors note: Morgan is what we call “Wrong”. If Rachel turns on Vince, Will and Ashley
will follow her. In fact, Morgan probably will too. They’re all intimidated by
her. It’s obvious to anyone with a spine – which is why Vince doesn’t see it.
When it’s time to pick players for the veto competition,
it’s Will (random) and Keanu (picked by Kelley) who join the game.
(1 point for “Picked for veto via random draw” [Will] to
Angela and Lia!)
(2 points for “Picked for veto via houseguest choice”
[Keanu] to Scott, Will Amy, Aly, Kat, Morgan, Melissa, Nickole!)
They are dressed in tuxes and gowns at the veto competition.
In this comp, they compete head to head with two glasses of wine, one of which
is “poisoned”. Whoever drinks the
“poisoned” wine loses that round. Last
player standing with less than 2 “deaths” wins, and Ava needs to win it (1
point for “Mention ‘I need to win veto” [Ava] to Blake and Nickole!)
The drama and overacting is hysterically terrible. I feel like there should be a word for that, but I can’t think of it. In any case, Ava is the first to die followed by Keanu, Will, and Kelley (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’ [Keanu] to Scott, Will Amy, Aly, Kat, Morgan, Melissa, Nickole!). 5 secret bonus points if you message me the word inconceivable. It comes down to Vince and Mickey and realizing that she may not die (but her game might), Mickey picks the correct cup and wins the veto! (4 points for “Win Veto” [Mickey] to no one!). Vince sees this as a worst-case scenario. Katherine feels unsafe because Vince lacks a spine. She knows Rachel is the obvious choice and he won’t do it.
Hearing Vince, Morgan and Lauren talk about renominations
together is enlightening. He’s very close to both women, they’re on opposite
sides and both try to manipulate him. Morgan wants Katherine as the nominee,
while Lauren and Vince lay out a dozen reasons to nominate Rachel. Vince sees Katherine as the safe choice, but
does he want to play safe right now? (1
point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to Amy, Aly, Morgan and Slater!)
Rachel does her own “Who me? As a renom? Don’t be silly!”
work with Vince. When he lets slip that Keanu wanted him to put her up, it’s a
full-on brake-slamming record-scratch moment for the Queen who thought Keanu
was firmly under her thumb.
He gets flustered, can’t speak and denies it when she
confronts him about it, and she immediately knows it’s true. Keanu asks us “Why would Vince tell her
this?”
Pretend Points Rule #4: Know your audience. When sharing information, a player shall
consider the recipient with whom they share it, with whom the recipient is
allied and how the information can be used against the player.
HE SHARED IT WITH HER BECAUSE YOU’RE PLAYING BIG BROTHER YOU
BRAIN DEAD BARBARIAN!
At Lauren’s birthday party, Ava suggests they all say
something nice about the person next to them.
Sitting next to Vince, Katherine takes the chance to butter him up in
hopes of keeping herself off the block. Rachel feels like she’s in the Twilight
Zone, grabs the rest of a bottle of wine and finishes it. After she walks away, Kelley trashes Rachel’s
attitude. Ashley runs to tattle on Kelley
to Mama Rachel as fast as she can, which sets the Queen off.
In the backyard, Kelley is about to get into the hammock
with Morgan when Rachel walks right past her saying “I was about to sit there,
sorry Kelley”. This is a level of petty I can really appreciate but deserves
Josh Martinez banging pots in her face level retaliation. Kelley’s too nice a
person for that though, and she walks away (1 point for “Shown on camera
crying” [Kelley] to no one!). Morgan sees how angry Rachel is at Keanu and
Kelley, and thinks Vince needs to know it.
When she gets to the HOH, he’s terrified of playing too safe. Morgan insists that Rachel isn’t targeting him and that not going after her is playing smart. Vince sees it as making a deal with the devil
Just before the Veto ceremony, Rachel wants to be the last person to talk to Vince as that’s who he listens to. Unfortunately for her, Vince dumps that he knows she brought his information to Keanu and wonders aloud if he’s getting played. Rachel apologizes and does her best “I’m an asset to your game” bit. It shouldn’t be enough, but it’s Rachel.
Keanu keeps popping his head in waiting to talk to Vince,
but Rachel won’t let him. The tension is palpable as they get into a staredown.
Her ability to cause tension is truly remarkable. Finally, she relents.
Keanu tells Vince that no one is forcing him to do anything,
but this is the wrong approach. Vince is a superfan, and a coward. He needs to
be told that he’ll be laughed at and mocked in the BB community for being weak
if he doesn’t nominate Rachel and that he’ll be remembered if he does.
At the veto meeting, Mickey uses the veto on herself, and
Vince nominates….
Katherine (3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Katherine] to Melissa!)
We open Eviction Night with Rachel saying she can’t handle
the drama (hah!) (2 points for “Speak in opening vignette” [Rachel] to Will!)
Katherine thinks Vince is pathetic, Keanu has been burned by
him three times, but that’s second place to Kelley who he’s burned five times
now.
Memo to Katherine, Kelley, Keanu and Lauren: If you want to
get Vince to do something, make him scared.
Or get Morgan to tell him to do it. Either of those works.
While talking about votes with Katherine in the bedroom, Ashley tells her she’d vote against Kelley….while Kelley was in the bed right behind her listening!
Rachel doesn’t want to talk to Keanu, and when he pesters
her about it, she can’t even look at him.
The Barbarian DM moves on to Vince, trying to get the HOH to stop
letting Morgan and Rachel finesse him, and to stop playing so scared. Keanu really wants to play with Vince but
needs Vince to choose him driving the HOH tot tears…again (1 point for
“Shown on camera crying” [Vince] to Amy, Aly, Morgan and Slater!). He’s a dope, but he’s not wrong here. Vince is more dangerous to his allies than
his enemies, which is how Lauren sees it too (1 point for “Mention ‘in this
game’” [Lauren] to Kat!)
Remember one paragraph ago when Ashley talked about Kelley
while Kelley was in the bed listening? IT
HAPPENS AGAIN IN THE SAME ROOM but this time it’s Ava overhearing Lauren
tell Ashley that Katherine is her #1, and Ava is #2.
Katherine tries to swing Rachel her way, saying that while
Rylie is gone, she didn’t want to be his tagalong. She can’t stand Rachel, but
the Queen isn’t sure what’s best for the game if eviction comes down to Kelley
vs. Katherine.
(2 points for “Shown on camera in gray” [Rylie] to Scott,
Blake and Slater!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Katherine] to Melissa!)
At the BB Blockbuster, they have to roll a ball down a game
board ramp and land it in the bottom center.
They need to place several pieces on the game board to bounce the ball
the proper way, so it lands where they need it to.
It takes me longer to write this piece than it takes BB
Blockbuster Queen Kelley to win it. She
does it on her first try! (4 points
for “Win special comp” [Kelley] to no one!)
With Kelley safe from the vote there’s very little
politicking when it comes time to vote. Ava is too popular with most of the
house, and Katherine is evicted by a 7-1 vote.
(1 point for “Received vote against” [Ava] to Blake and
Nickole!!)
(7 points for “Received vote against” [Katherine] to Melissa!)
(-2 points for “Evicted” [Katherine] against Melissa!)
(5 points for “Mention a previous season’s player”
[Rachel] to Will!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Lauren] to Kat!)
So, what does that mean for our scores?
Mickey led all houseguests with 12 points, thank to her Veto
win. Unfortunately, none of us had her! Kelley and Vince credit their comp wins
for landing them in 3rd and 4th. Katherine can enjoy her
2nd place finish this week on her way home.
With 2 points, Zach (who’s been out of the game 2 weeks now)
outscored Keanu (who was drafted by 8/12 of us), Lauren, Ashley and Morgan who
are still playing it. Make it make
sense!
The top 6 remain in place.
Will remains firmly entrenched at the top with a 30-point lead on me for
2nd. Slater came into the
week 14 points behind me. He is now only 2 points back. Morgan, Melissa and Aly
remain in lockstep, as each earned 16 points this week. Amy jumps to 7th,
pushing Nickole and Kat into 8th and 9th while the bottom 3 of Angela, Lia and Blake remain
in place.
