Second, 5 points each to Jayson and Viviana for
knowing “One Eternity Later” is from SpongeBob Squarepants! Third, 10 points each to Carol,
Marissa and Teresa for knowing SpongeBob and finding the phrase
“Murdered Pizza”. That poor pizza!
On to the update!
We kick the week off with Kelley’s exit to the jury house (2
points for “Speak in the opening vignette” [Kelley] to Viviana!) and are
reminded that Lauren followed her out the door (1 point for “Shown on camera
in gray” [Lauren] to Joe!).
Ava only has Ashley left, and they create a Final 2 called
“Will’s Daughters” and realize they control the outcome of any vote that
they’re not part of.
(3 points for “Shown on camera making a Final 2” [Ava] to
Carol, Roberta, Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !)
(3 points for “Shown on camera making a Final 2” [Ashley]
to Marissa !)
(3 points for “Name an alliance” [Ava] to Carol, Roberta,
Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !)
Morgan is psyched that her first HOH resulted in Lauren going to jury despite (or because of) how Vince felt about her (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to Scott, Roberta, Dalphyne, Tessa, Joe and Demi !). Vince hopes he made the right decision evicting Kelley (1 point for “Shown on camera in gray” [Kelley] to Viviana!) and knows Keanu needs to go next, but for unknowable reasons the lug head STILL thinks Vince is on his side. I want to like Keanu but…
The Mastermind, who I think is Boston Rob, announces a
unique eviction vote and tells them to be ready at a moment’s notice. Ava and Ashley know this is their time – if
Vince doesn’t win, Morgan needs to go.
The HOH competition is the Pressure Cooker! An iconic
comp! Extra points for having the
winner!
In this pressure cooker, they have to stand on a platform
while pressing a sword against a mask on the altar. Come off the platform, or the mask drops, and
you lose which is something Vince cannot have (1 point for “Mention ‘I need
to win HOH’” [Vince] to Scott, Roberta, Dalphyne, Tessa, Joe and Demi !).
Ashley thinks she’s in the best social position in the house but wants to build
her resume (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Ashley] to Marissa !).
Ava knows she has no shot and quickly drops. Ashley soon follows her.
Question: Have
there ever been two houseguests who said “I need to win this competition” and
lost more than these two? EVERY.
SINGLE. TIME.
Anyway, it comes down to Keanu vs. Vince, and the barbarian tries some distraction techniques, chattering away, asking pointless questions, making it tough for Vince to concentrate. He even begins pitching Vince to get rid of Morgan as a resume builder. Unfortunately for Keanu, he’s the only person who gets distracted. Out of nowhere, he loses focus and drops meaning…(5 points for “Win HOH” [Vince] to Scott, Roberta, Dalphyne, Tessa, Joe and Demi !), and (3 points for “Win iconic comp” [Vince] to Scott, Roberta, Dalphyne, Tessa, Joe and Demi !).
Vince is going to build that resume with a big move, all
right, but not the one Keanu wants. Ava doesn’t think this is ideal, while
Morgan sees her path to the end become clear.
Ideally, Morgan wants Keanu gone, then Ava so the Judges
will be the Final 3. Being put back up on the block by the same guy is something Ava thinks America couldn’t make up.
Keanu tells Vince that keeping Morgan safe is a 2nd
place move. Using the same tactic, Ava tries to convince Vince that everyone
thinks Morgan ran his game and the right move is to nominate both Keanu and
Morgan to ensure one of them goes home. That would be PretendPoints
Rule #3 Playing to Win: Mid-to-late game opportunities to dismiss a
stronger player shall not be passed up, even if allied with that player.
There’s only one winner.
But Vince is a spineless weasel and Morgan owns him, so
that’s not going to happen.
At the nomination ceremony, Vince weasels out nominating
Keanu and Ava. (3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Ava] to Carol,
Roberta, Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !), and (3 points for
“Nominated for eviction” [Keanu !).
On Wednesday, Keanu and Ava open the show (2 points for
“Speak in the opening vignette” [Keanu] to Jay, Ricky, Brian, Teresa and Demi
!), and (3 points for “Speak in the opening vignette” [Ava] to Carol,
Roberta, Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !). Vince explains to us that Keanu could win
his way to the Final 2, ignoring the fact that Morgan has won more
competitions. Every reason Vince shares why Keanu should go applies more to
Morgan.
Without a hint of irony, Ava tells us she needs to win Veto (1
point for “Mention ‘I need to win Veto’” [Ava] to Carol, Roberta, Ricky,
Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !). Keanu tells us that he let up
intentionally in the HOH, and while that’s a healthy dose of
Copium, Keanu is pretty angry with Vince. Finally, Ava and Ashley plot
pointlessly about what they’d do when they win Veto.
It’s another iconic Veto competition – Tiny Figures! Extra points for the winner! They need to use tweezers to stack 30 pieces
to match the Mastermind’s portrait. And
while they fall again, and again, and again, and again I don’t judge. I
couldn’t do this in a month. Keanu knows he needs to win (1 point for
“Mention ‘I need to win Veto’” [Keanu] to Jay, Ricky, Brian, Teresa and Demi !)
but that doesn’t stop Morgan’s late-season surge. She takes home her umpteenth Veto in a row! (4
points for “Win Veto” [Morgan] to Scott, Jay, Carol, Dalphyne, Brian and Tessa
!), (3 points for “Win an iconic comp” [Morgan] to Scott, Jay, Carol,
Dalphyne, Brian and Tessa !) securing her safety (1 point for “Mention
‘in this game’” [Morgan] to Scott, Jay, Carol, Dalphyne, Brian and Tessa !). The
failure leads Ava to tears (1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Ava] to
Carol, Roberta, Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !) and Ashley to tell
us again that she wants Morgan gone.
Keanu is so angry that he threatens Vince with his jury vote, but Vince is doing what he thinks is best for his game (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to Scott, Roberta, Dalphyne, Tessa, Joe and Demi !) and tries to convince Ashley that he’d take her to Final 2. Ashley is really considering his pitch (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’ [Ashley] to Marissa !) when they get called for the Veto meeting.
Morgan chooses to keep nominations the same and The
Mastermind tells them the vote will be in one hour. Ava decides to be chill, as
Keanu is the target. Keanu makes strong
arguments to Vince, but Vince isn’t listening.
At the vote, trusting the wrong person all season finally
burns Keanu as both Vince and choose to make him Juror #5.
(2 points for “Received vote against” [Keanu] to Jay,
Ricky, Brian, Teresa and Demi !)
(-2 points for “Evicted” [Keanu] to Jay, Ricky, Brian,
Teresa and Demi !)
(2 points for “Jury member” [Keanu] to Jay, Ricky, Brian,
Teresa and Demi !)
When Vince announces it’s time for the HOH comp, Ashley
tells us it’s time for Morgan to go, again,
and Ava tells us she has to win it….again. (1 point for “Mention ‘I need to win HOH’”
[Ava] to Carol, Roberta, Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !)
Thursday’s show opens with the eminently quotable queen of the opening vignette, Ava (2 points for “Speak in the opening vignette” [Ava] to Carol, Roberta, Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !). At the HOH comp, they have to move a human sized cube from the inside such that a specific icon ends up on top at the entrance. First to three wins and Ashley can taste how much winning would put her closer to the end.
Competing
against Ava and Ashley is exactly Morgan’s design (1 point for “Shown on
camera in gray” [Keanu] to Jay, Ricky, Brian, Teresa and Demi !) and she’s
100% correct on why – they are pathetically bad competitors. Morgan quickly
dispatches them, 3-0 winning her 2nd HOH (5 points for “Win HOH” [Morgan]
to Scott, Jay, Carol, Dalphyne, Brian and Tessa !). That doesn’t stop Ava from telling us she
needs to win Veto to save herself though.
Do they even hear themselves? (1
point for “Mention ‘I need to win Veto’” [Ava] to Carol, Roberta, Ricky,
Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !). 5
points if you send me the phrase tone deaf. These points are in addition to
other bonus points.
As Morgan recounts her recent competition dominance to Vince, he finally starts seeing how good her resume looks. Talking with Ava about the Veto, he doesn’t believe Morgan would nominate him. Should Vince win Veto Ava tries to convince him to use it on her, as Morgan will take Ashley to the Final 2. (1 point for “Mention ‘I need to win Veto’” [Vince] to Scott, Roberta, Dalphyne, Tessa, Joe and Demi !). Twirling his moustache while considering it makes Vince look like a true villain.
At the nomination ceremony, Ava and Ashley are predictably
put on the block. (3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Ava] to Carol,
Roberta, Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !), and (3 points for
“Nominated for eviction” [Ashley] to Marissa !).
At the Veto competition, they have to identify what events
took place on which dates. Another iconic comp!
Extra points for the winner!
Ava and Ashley are predictably slow, and while Vince has
good pace and process, Morgan’s process is better, and she moves as if possessed. She quickly dispatches the competition again,
winning her umpteenth +1 Veto (4 points for “Win Veto” [Morgan] to Scott,
Jay, Carol, Dalphyne, Brian and Tessa !), (3 points for “Win iconic comp” [Morgan]
to Scott, Jay, Carol, Dalphyne, Brian and Tessa !).
While everyone congratulates Morgan, Ashley….REALLY
WANTED TO WIN. I know they get fed
their lines by production but at this point, I’d be for
something….anything…else to say. It’s embarrassing. Ava knows she’s in danger and has
to…trust…Vince. Good luck with that.
Vince channels his inner Keanu while recounting his and
Morgan’s recent good fortune and sticks his foot squarely in his mouth saying
he’d be dominating the 2nd half if she wasn’t here. I’m flabbergasted here. She has the Veto and
hasn’t used it yet! What are you doing????
Ashley positions Morgan taking Vince to Final 2 as a crazy choice, as
Vince never prioritized her and playing to win might mean having to evict
him.
Morgan considers Ashey’s solid argument, thinking she can
beat both Ava and Ashley, but Vince might be the more difficult path. I think at this point Morgan beats everyone
pretty easily, but why take chances?
At the live Veto and eviction, Morgan chooses not to use the
Veto and while Ava doesn’t want to hear from Vince again, Ashley couldn’t be
happier to be here (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Ashley] to Marissa
!). Vince chooses to evict Ava, and
she becomes Juror #6.
(1 point for “Received vote against” [Ava] to Carol,
Roberta, Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !)
(-2 points for “Evicted” [Ava] to Carol, Roberta, Ricky,
Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !)
(2 points for “Jury member” [Ava] to Carol, Roberta,
Ricky, Marissa, Teresa, and Viviana !)
Heading into Sunday’s finale, what does this mean for our
scores?
In the shock of the season, Ava led all scorers this week
with 20 points towering over the 12 both Morgan and Vince put up! That’s what creating a Final 2, naming an
alliance, and being nominated twice will do for you!
In our game, Leader Carol didn’t let her foot off the gas,
taking advantage of having both Ava and Morgan and bagging both sets of bonus
points! She put up 42 points, while Teresa was right behind at 41 and Marissa
at 39.
Overall, she increased her lead to a whopping 39 points, and
It’s looking like Finale night is a formality.
I remain in 2nd place, 8 points ahead of 3rd place
Jay. Marissa jumps from 6th to 4th, passing both 5th
place Brian and 7th place Joe who cedes 6th place to
Ricky. Teresa has almost caught her son, with his sister Tessa and Dalphyne right
behind too. Viviana is tied with Roberta for 10th, while Demi is
relegated to the cellar.
