Third, no one got the secret bonus points for finding
the word “Inconceivable” in last week’s update.
Way to pay attention 😉!
On to the update!
We open the week with Ava popping awake as people talk about
her without realizing she’s right there!
(2 points for “Speak in the opening vignette” [Ava] to Blake!). Lauren
is devastated following Katherine’s eviction (2 points for “Shown on camera
in gray” [Katherine] to Melissa!), and she’s tired of playing safe and
sitting in the background. (1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Lauren] to
no one!) while Ava is just happy to be here. (1 point for “Mention ‘in
this game’” [Ava] to Blake!).
While his flirtmance Morgan’s focus is on the Judges
alliance, Vince knows he needs to do damage control with Lauren. Stop me if
you’ve heard this one before: Vince promises to play an entirely
different game if he makes it past this week.
Lauren yes’s him to death but tells us she doesn’t believe it. (1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Vince]
to Amy and Aly!), and (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to
Amy and Aly!).
Keanu is also tired of seeing his allies go home because of Vince
and agrees with Kelley that they need to take some power back. (1 point for
“Mention ‘in this game’” [Keanu] to Will, Amy, Morgan, Melissa, Aly, Angela and
Slater!). She feels guilty for waiting so long to lock in with Keanu, but
they’re together now.
After last week’s tumultuous relationship, Keanu tries to straighten things out with Rachel claiming he went behind her back because she didn’t consider his game when she nominated Rylie. This is revisionist history. He also says it feels like she’s using him as a shield, which the Queen laughs at “How can I use you as a shield? I’m the biggest target!”.
Ava sees the Memory Wall change to “Mystere Moments”, and
they all begin prepping for a memory comp. (1 point for “Mention ‘I need to
win HOH” [Keanu] to Will, Amy, Morgan, Melissa, Aly, Angela and Slater!). Lauren
has more targets than she can name, Morgan wants to keep her Judges safe, and
Kelley wants to nominate Rachel, Rachel, Rachel, and Rachel.
At the HOH competition, get the memory question right and
move on. Get it wrong and get
eliminated.
Will, Rachel, Mickey are quickly eliminated leaving Morgan
to protect the Judges but she’s set down along with Ashley, Ava and
Lauren. It comes down to Keanu or
Kelley, and Kelley knows she has to win if she wants Rachel gone. Unfortunately for her, she can’t recall a
small detail and Keanu did meaning…. Keanu is the new HOH! (5 points for “Win HOH” [Keanu] to Will,
Amy, Morgan, Melissa, Aly, Angela and Slater!).
At least they actually clapped for his win this time.
In the storeroom, Kelley is ecstatically dancing around
Keanu. He thinks if Morgan goes it will swing Vince in his direction. There are two problems with that
thought:
1)
Because he trusts Rachel, she’s a bigger threat
to him than Morgan is.
2)
Vince doesn’t have a direction other than “Say
yes” and “cry about it later”.
So, after blasting Vince for not going after Rachel, he’s choosing to…. not go after Rachel…. because he wants her in jury advocating for him.
Seeing Rachel be the first person to talk with Keanu raises
a red flag for Mickey (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Mickey] to
Scott!) and she assumes he’s going to nominate her. Rachel tells Ashley he’d keep the two of them
safe, but Ashley doesn’t buy it, Morgan and Vince hope for Ava to be nominated
to save the Judges but think Vince evicting Rylie could spell trouble. (1
point for “Shown on camera in gray” [Rylie] to Blake!).
Keanu has made his decision – he wants Morgan gone and thinks Vince would use the Veto on her. Say it with me now: “I promise I won’t do that”, Vince swears. Vince tries smooth talking, but Keanu thinks Vince should blow it out his ass instead.
Vince tells Morgan they are definitely going up with Mickey.
Morgan doesn’t see that making sense for him, but Vince does. Whining about
being a have-not, not having rest or energy for Veto makes Vince look so
pathetic here. Morgan sees he’s at his lowest point. (1 point for “Mention
‘in this game’” [Morgan] to Nickole and Lia!)
Ava knows she may be nominated, she did yell at him and
nominate him after all, so they don’t have a great history (1 point for
“Mention ‘in this game’” [Ava] to Blake!). Keanu isn’t locked in on her,
however, and seems to be leaning more toward Mickey.
Vince feels bad for getting emotional and claims to take ownership of everything he’s done so far. What does that mean, exactly? Everyone knows what he did. What will he do differently? Nothing. “I’m an ally”, he claims but Keanu sees that his actions have led to three allies being evicted. Words are wind, GRRM says, and Vince is full of them.
At the nomination ceremony, Vince and Morgan are joined by
Mickey in the chairs.
(3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Vince] to Amy and
Aly!)
(3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Morgan] to
Nickole and Lia!)
(3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Mickey] to Scott!)
We pick back up on Wednesday as Keanu reminds us that Vince
should blow it out his ass (2 points for “Speak in opening vignette” [Keanu]
to Will, Amy, Morgan, Melissa, Aly, Angela and Slater!). Vince sees that he
has two chances to save himself, and believes it’s win or go home (1 point
for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to Amy and Aly!).
Rachel feels great about these nominations and thanks Keanu for keeping her safe, (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rachel] to Scott, Will, Kat, Morgan, Nickole, Angela and Slater!) while he’s tired of seeing his allies go home because of Vince (1 point for “Shown on camera in gray” [Katherine] to Melissa!). Meeting with Kelley after nominations, Vince is emotional about the nominations, but Kelley is indifferent (1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Vince] to Amy and Aly) while Ashley and Ava praise the Lord, they escaped the block under a Keanu HOH.
Mickey thinks spending some time trying to convince Ashley,
Rachel and Will to use the Veto on her will make them forget about her
dictatorial stretch, but they don’t (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rachel]
to Scott, Will, Kat, Morgan, Nickole, Angela and Slater!). They see her as
a disposable shield. (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Mickey] to Scott!).
Her former ally Morgan knows she’s a target (1 point for
“Mention ‘in this game’” [Morgan] to Nickole and Lia!) so, she tries to
turn Keanu’s focus elsewhere. It’s not working, however. Keanu is fixated on
breaking up the “inexplicable” loyalty Vince has to Morgan.
Keanu starts making the rounds, urging Kelley and Lauren to
use the Veto on Vince should they win. Lauren would. Kelley nods, smiles and
has no intention of doing so. It’s Keanu’s dream draft when they pick players
for the Veto, as Lauren and he chooses Kelley to join the players! (1 point for “Picked for Veto via random
draw” [Lauren] to no one!) and (2 points for “Picked for Veto via
Houseguest Choice” [Kelley] to no one!).
Rachel had every intention of using the Veto to prevent an
Ashley renom and takes it as a personal attack when Keanu chooses Kelley to
play over her. She’s always one heartbeat away from angry at him and that anger
flares when he tells her Ashley is a potential renomination. She doesn’t want
Ashley to go, and that makes it difficult to work with him.
See, Keanu has to pay attention to what’s best for Rachel.
But when it was Rachel’s turn, she didn’t give a single thought about what’s
best for Keanu. That’s how it works with her.
Kelley tells Keanu she could use the Veto on Morgan who’d then be a vote for Vince. Keanu definitely wants to keep Vince because, and he said this with a straight face, Vince will always vote in their direction.
Meanwhile, Ashley and Mickey think these nominations are the
worst-case scenario. Convinced she has the votes to stay, Mickey thinks they’d
try to backdoor Rachel and might not use the Veto on herself to prevent that
from happening. And if Rachel goes, then Mickey doesn’t have her as a shield,
and becomes the target.
Author’s note: This is the 3rd straight week she’s been nominated, she’s sitting on the block and wouldn’t use the Veto on herself because her shield might go, and then she might be the next target?
At the Veto comp set
in a Parisian restaurant, they are joined by Season 26’s Angela!
(5 points for “Mention a previous season’s houseguest” [Ava]
to Blake!)
(5 points for “Mention a previous season’s houseguest” [Lauren]
to no one!)
(5 points for “Mention a previous season’s houseguest” [Kelley]
to no one!)
(5 points for “Mention a previous season’s houseguest” [Mickey]
to Scott!)
Drawing on Charcuteriegate from last season, they have to
stack 35 pieces of meat and cheese puzzles on a board, which is knocked down at
periodic intervals by Angela’s attackers. Vince and Morgan recognize the
initial 2-minute timer is too short and instead use the time to learn.
(1 point for “Mention ‘I need to win Veto” [Vince] to Amy
and Aly!)
(1 point for “Mention ‘I need to win Veto” [Morgan] to
Nickole and Lia!)
The time is increased to three minutes. No one is
close. At four minutes, Mickey is close
but not quite there. Soon after the timer is increased to five minutes, Keanu’s
target saves herself. (4 points for “Win Veto” [Morgan] to Nickole and Lia!)
Keanu doesn’t see it as a big problem – it’s a target-rich
environment for him. Now that Morgan is safe, Vince thinks Kenau’s nominating
him makes no sense. God, he’s all over
the place. Ava and Ashley wonder if prayers will continue to keep them safe,
worrying that they are renomination targets.
Now that she’s potentially a renomination, Rachel is Keanu’s
best friend again. She makes him lasagna, brings it right to him, talks so
sweetly. God, she’s insufferable. She
wants to see Lauren as the renomination but lasagna or no, Keanu’s not having
it.
When he tells Ashley that she could be the renomination, she says it won’t fly with her. It’s a good thing she didn’t say that to me. The level of mockery I’d have unleashed right then would probably end my game, but it’d have been worth it to see Ashley’s fake façade crumble to tears. And I promise, there would be tears.
For his part, Keanu doesn’t care if Ashley comes for him. She hasn’t won a thing since the very first night. But he does need to understand that this is where his game is at. Except for Kelley and maybe Lauren, they will ALL nominate him the first chance they get so he should just do what they want. If they want to get mad, throw their little tantrums…let them. Big deal.
Keanu and Vince start hatching a plan – what if they
convince Morgan to use the Veto on Vince if he promises to nominate Lauren, but
he turns around and nominates Ashley instead?
When Morgan talks to Rachel about it, the Queen is in favor, but Morgan
doesn’t trust Keanu to follow through nominating Lauren.
Note: Lauren and Morgan are Vince’s two closest allies,
and he has no problem throwing their games around.
When Morgan, Vince, Keanu and Rachel realize the plan won’t work, Rachel pitches Ava instead of Ashley but Keanu thinks he has a better relationship with Ava.
When Keanu asks Rachel if she’ll target him for nominating
Ashley, the Evil Queen replies “You’ll just have to find out”. Morgan and Vince
take that as their cue to leave. In the DR, Keanu wonders if he should just
nominate Rachel instead.
We aren’t quite that lucky at the Veto ceremony. Morgan
takes herself off the block, and Keanu nominates Ashley in her place. Like the spoiled, entitled brat she is,
Ashley claps her hands, gives him attitude and launches into the fakest
spur-of-the-moment monologue since Jimmy left.
Her adrenaline is pumping so hard that it’s completely screwed up her
delivery style and honesty, it’s embarrassing.
The painfully over-rehearsed insults open Thursday’s show,
and where there’s drama, there’s Rachel. She jumps in saying “Don’t you
antagonize her!” while SHE’S THE ONE ANTAGONIZING HIM! It’s like she lives in a different reality.
Afterword, Will and Ashley think it was an iconic moment. (1
point for “Mention ‘this speech was iconic” [Will] to Kat and Lia!).
Calling your own moves iconic is like giving yourself a nickname. It doesn’t count.
Rachel tells us she is done with Keanu – again – and will keep Vince over Mickey, but while Mickey thinks she has Rachel’s vote to stay, she wants to ensure her own safety (1 point for “Mention ‘I need to win Blockbuster’” [Mickey] to Scott!). Kelley would keep Mickey over Vince, but she truly wants Rachel’s minion Ashley gone
Keanu complains to Ava about Ashley and Rachel lying, saying
they wanted Ava nominated instead. Ava
believes it because it has the perk of being true. After their conversation,
Rachel and Ashley start in again with “Don’t you be telling no strong woman how
to think!” (only they are allowed to do that, I guess). Keanu doesn’t take the bait, but Rachel
doesn’t care, accusing him of raising his voice to them. While he isn’t and she
is.
There’s a word for this:
Gaslighting
Gaslighting (noun): a form of psychological manipulation
and emotional abuse where a person systematically distorts another's reality by
denying facts, misremembering events, or trivializing their feelings to gain
control and instill self-doubt in the victim
This insidious method of control is evil, as are Rachel and
Ashley for using it.
Mickey does her own work, trying to convince Will and Ava
she should stay. She feels they are both 50/50, but Ava is totally out on
Mickey (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Ava] to Blake!) and (1
point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Will] to Kat and Lia!). Vince,
naturally, tells Mickey he’d vote for her to stay. She, naturally, doesn’t
return the courtesy and instead worries more about the aftermath of voting
Ashley over Vince.
At the BB Blockbuster, Ashley, Mickey and Vince are in tubes
filled with colored balls being blown around. They need to use the balls to
fill a tube in specific color order. First person to finish the sequence wins.
Much like how her adrenaline got the best of her during her
over-rehearsed speech, it’s causing Ashley to act frantically which slows down
her progress. She’s just not able to keep herself under control. Mickey uses her…. natural assets….to trap the
balls and keeps it close but neither has a shot here. Vince makes relatively
quick work of this, earning his way to safety! (4 points for “Win special
comp” [Vince] to Amy and Aly!).
Neither of their speeches is particularly good. Ashley’s
delivery reminds me of a corporate HR drone who fires people with a fake smile
and then takes offense if they get mad.
It’s a banal evil, but it’s still evil. Mickey’s speech is more emotional, but
pointless. No one is being swayed here. One of Ashley or Mickey is about to go
home….AND I AM HERE FOR IT! (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Mickey]
to Scott!).
At the vote, Vince finally stays true to his word and votes
against Ashley. However, everyone else
votes against Mickey and she becomes the final pre-juror.
(6 points for “Received vote against” [Mickey] to Scott!)
(-2 points for “Evicted” [Mickey] against Scott!)
(5 points for “Mention a previous seasons houseguest” [Rachel]
to Scott, Will, Kat, Morgan, Nickole, Angela and Slater!)
She is shocked at the result but leaves without much fanfare.
BUT THERE’S PLENTY OF FANFARE HERE! WOOOOOOO! I LOVE IT
WHEN THE VILLAINS GET THEIR COMEUPPANCE!
So, what does that mean for our scores?
On her way home, Mickey led all Houseguests with 15 points
this week, followed by Ashley, Vince and Morgan. I’m sensing a theme. Are you?
In our game, no one had the top combo of Mickey and Ashley. Aly,
Amy and I tied for top honors with 21 points with Angela, Morgan, Slater and
Will all tallying a pointless at 20.
Somehow, the standings remain static this week. If I’ve ever seen that happen before, I don’t remember it. Will remains on top followed by me. Slater is just behind me in 3rd. Morgan and Melissa a few behind him. Aly remains middle-of-the-pack, but Nickole’s almost caught her while pulling away from Kat. Angela, Lia and Blake round out the bottom quarter.
