Second, 5 bonus points to Jay, Carol, Teresa and Viviana for
knowing Rachel’s final form was none other than the evil mastermind Gru from
the Despicable Me franchise! Thirdly, 5 bonus points to me for making
another trip around the Sun. Thanks,
Marissa!
On to the update!
Following Mickey’s eviction, Ashley thinks the Judges are
real now that they protected her and Vince thinks he needed the win, else he’d
have gone home. Keanu thinks Vince got his message, and Mickey went home which
cracked open the other side of the house, so his HOH was a success.
Keanu calls everyone into the living room and tells the houseguests they’ve been invited to The White Locust, and everyone knows a twist is coming
The backyard has been transformed into a tropical hotel paradise,
but the Mastermind tells everyone that not everyone will be checking out. (1
point for “Mention ‘in this game’ [Keanu] to Scott, Jay, Carol, Ricky, Tessa
and Demi!). The Mastermind’s concierge appears, and it’s Tyler from Big
Brother 20! I fully expected points to
be given out here but there was only shouting and the only person that said
“Tyler” was…. Tyler. Weird, right?
Before the true insanity gets started, the houseguests compete one at a time sliding a three totems down three tables, landing in the green zone. Fastest person to complete all three wins safety, but that comes with a decision. In no time at all, Keanu takes the lead, but Ava smokes his time, earning her safety (4 points for “Win a special competition [Ava] to Viviana!”
Ava will now choose one houseguest to compete for their game
life in the Hamster Wheel maze challenge last seen on Big Brother Reindeer
Games. The first person chosen will have
6:30 to complete the maze. If they win, they choose the next person who only
gets 5:30, then 4:30 and so on until someone doesn’t complete it. First person
chosen who doesn’t complete it is eliminated from the game, while the fastest
person to complete it wins HOH! Ava has 10 minutes to decide
Ava gets to choose,
and Keanu immediately volunteers but Rachel doesn’t want to let Keanu talk to
Ava and drags the aura painter into the storeroom, angering Ava. Rachel and
Ashley insist that Ava not let Keanu go first. Keanu and Rachel war over “letting Ava make
her own decisions”, which is code for “Doing what Rachel wants”.
In the end, Ava asks for volunteers and chooses Vince when
he raises his hand. Vince makes the wheel look relatively easy and quickly
finishes the maze. (4 points for “Win
special comp” [Vince] to Dalphyne and Joe!).
Never one to shy away from giving himself problems, Vince wants to
pick Lauren next, which sets both Rachel and Morgan over the edge (1 point
for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rachel] to Jay and Brian!).
He chooses Lauren who, with a minute less to compete, also
survives (4 points for “Win special comp” [Lauren] to Roberta, Ricky,
Teresa, Viviana and Joe!). Lauren
definitely wants to pick Kelley next, but the weasel Vince promises Morgan will
pick Kelley and convinces Lauren to pick Morgan instead. (1 point for
“Mention ‘in this game’ [Vince] to Dalphyne and Joe!). I can’t stand his whiney
gameplay, but he’s made Lauren do what he wants again and again.
Lauren chooses Morgan, and consoles an upset Kelley saying “If Morgan doesn’t pick you, I’m going to be extremely upset”. Wow. What kind of allies are these? I’m sure Kelley is fine now, right?
Morgan also survives (4 points for “Win special comp” [Morgan]
to Dalphyne, Marissa, Brian and Tessa!) and tells Rachel the maze was easy,
and since the Queen wants to go next, sorry Kelley! I mean, is ANYONE surprised by this besides
Lauren? Keanu knows Rachel will win,
telling Lauren she just screwed him or Kelley…but Rachel is struggling.
Lauren realizes too late that she’s going to lose another ally because she listened to Vince
But Rachel isn’t making any progress. She was great at comps in BB 12 and 13, but age, success, and pressure have robbed her and that clock keeps ticking…5….4…3…2…1…0! Rachel loses! She apologizes to Brendan (5 points for “Mention a previous season’s player” [Rachel] to Jay and Brian!) but she’s gone (1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Rachel] to Jay and Brian!), (2 points for “Jury member #1” [Rachel] to Jay and Brian!)
Will: That wasn’t supposed to happen. Ya think?
Ava opens Wednesday’s show (2 points for “Speak in the opening vignette” [Ava] to Viviana!) and everyone’s dealing with the aftermath. Vince is at a loss (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to Dalphyne and Joe!) as Lauren is revealed to have the fastest time, winning her 2nd HOH! (5 points for “Win HOH” [Lauren] to Roberta, Ricky, Teresa, Viviana and Joe!). She’s excited but her head is reeling. From now on, she’s only making decisions that are best for HER game.
Keanu isn’t that upset Rachel is gone (1 point for “Shown
on camera in gray” [Rachel] to Jay and Brian!) as her fate was in her own
hands. Morgan is mad at Vince for picking Lauren over her, and Vince somehow
has the nerve to say “I’d never pick her over you”. YOU JUST DID! LIKE AN HOUR AGO! (1 point
for “Shown on camera crying” [Morgan] to Dalphyne, Marissa, Brian and Tessa!). Morgan
now understands what Kelley, Keanu, and Lauren feel about Vince when he chooses
someone else over them. She’s angry because she’s a likely nominee, as she
knows Lauren rightly thinks Morgan influences Vince.
Lauren holds conversations with Ava and Keanu to talk about nominations,
and it sounds like neither is a top target for her, though Ava would be fine
backdooring Keanu if the opportunity presented itself.
At the nomination ceremony, the Judges hit the block as
Morgan, Will and Ashley are all nominated by Lauren.
(3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Morgan] to
Dalphyne, Marissa, Brian and Tessa!)
(3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Will] to Roberta!)
(3 points for “Nominated for eviction” [Ashley] to no one!)
Will laments over the fate of the Judges, but this is what
happens to alliances whose only true strength is social game. Eventually, you’ve got to win some comps.
Ashley isn’t shocked, and now wants Lauren gone, as does Morgan.
Morgan, Lauren and Vince have separate talks with each other about what would happen with the Veto. Morgan would obviously use it on herself, Lauren might use it to take Ashley down and half-backdoor Keanu, and Vince being Vince, promises both women he’d do what they want. Finally, Lauren talks with Will, but he knows every word she’s going to say and has no interest in 2 AM, 3 AM conversations. He’s going to bed at 10:30
Keanu feels good about not being nominated, and thinks being
the #1 target will protect him from being renominated. Ashley, not knowing
Lauren is already considering using the Veto on her, works on Lauren to sway
her, but Lauren is so indecisive that she might not use it at all if she wins.
When it’s time to pick veto players, Vince (2 points for
“Picked for veto by houseguest choice” [Vince] to Dalphyne and Joe!) and Ava
(1 point for “Picked for veto by random draw”!) join the competition.
This makes Will happy, as he’s been working with Ava the whole game (1 point
for “Mention ‘in this game’ [Will] to Roberta!). What does “Working
together” actually look like when between the two of you, you’ve had power for
one week? Inquiring minds want to know.
Keanu sees that if the Veto is used, he is a likely renomination (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Keanu] to Scott, Jay, Carol, Ricky, Tessa and Joe!) but Vince doesn’t care. He’s over being sorry and is back to being the weasel. Morgan doesn’t think Lauren wants to use the Veto, but Vince believes he can convince her to take Morgan down. This is a chance for Vince to prove himself, she says.
At the veto comp, it’s BB Comics! An iconic competition,
meaning extra points for the winner! (1 point for “Mention ‘BB Comics is
iconic” [Vince] to Dalphyne and Joe!). As in the past, they have to line up
the comics in the proper order and choose which is correct in “spot the
difference in these pictures” fashion.
While perusing through them, Vince notices one of the pictures is Kenny
from BB26! (5 points for “Mention a previous season’s houseguest” [Kenny]!).
Vince makes a lot of trips, and I think he’s throwing it, so
he doesn’t have to choose between Morgan and Lauren. Will had a strategy but it
evaporated as soon as he touched the battlefield. Both he and Ava are predictably terrible at
this. Now they can work together as someone else decides their fate.
Morgan moves like she’s possessed. This is what it looks
like when you really want to win. She
likes all the comics, but thinks Jimmy’s was the best (1 point for “Mention
‘in this game’” [Morgan] to Dalphyne, Marissa, Brian and Tessa!). Lauren
knows she has it right, but wonders if she really wants to win, and delays a
bit to make it look good.
At the reveal, Ashley came in 3rd at 20 minutes, Lauren in 2nd at 13:30 and Morgan in 1st at 12:45 (7 points for “Win Veto” and “Win an iconic comp” [Morgan] to Dalphyne, Marissa, Brian and Tessa!). Lauren’s delay cost her the win. I hope that’s what she truly wanted. Meanwhile, Ashley must be talking about Lauren when she says “it sucks coming this close and losing.”, right? She couldn’t be talking about herself because SHE LOST BY 8 MINUTES! THAT’S NOT IN THE SAME REALM AS CLOSE! Finally, knowing the Veto will be used, Keanu thinks he can convince Lauren to nominate Vince instead of him, as she’d be Public Enemy #1 if he was evicted.
Keanu tries convincing Vince to ask to be renominated, as
Vince would stay over either Ashley or Will.
He may as well ask the Sun to come up in the West. He tries his luck with Lauren, who’s only
slightly more receptive, but makes a good point calling out that Vince has done
nothing for her game besides sending her allies home. If you’ll recall a page
or so ago, Lauren promised to do what was best for HER game, and that is,
again, TRUSTING VINCE. Keanu may be an
oafish lunkheaded barbarian but he’s straightforward. Vince is a snake, and she’s an idiot for
trusting him…. again.
At the veto ceremony, Morgan uses the veto on herself, and
Lauren puts Keanu up as a replacement (3 points for “Nominated for eviction”
[Keanu] to Scott, Jay, Carol, Ricky, Tessa and Joe!). If you’re keeping
track at home, and I am, add him to the list of people going after Lauren next
week.
Ava also opens Thursday’s show (2 points for “Speak in
opening vignette” [Ava] to Viviana!). Lauren
explains her decision as “Keanu is a huge threat” (1 point for “Mention ‘in
this game’” [Lauren] to Roberta, Ricky, Teresa, Viviana and Joe!) and I
agree…but that threat is desperate for someone to ally with and that could’ve
been you. He’s not surprised but he is
disappointed. Ashley is happy about it, but hates to compete against Will, as
both hope against the odds that one of them can beat him in the Blockbuster. (1
point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Will] to Roberta!)
Again, this highlights the problem with an alliance that
only has social power. The decisions are made by those who win comps.
Lauren considers any of the three on the block going home as
a successful HOH, but I fail to see how. Ashley and Will have done NOTHING and
have no chance to win. Getting rid of either is cutting dead weight. Keanu is a
different story. He’s been the house target for two months now. If she bags
him, that’s a resume’ builder.
Now that Lauren is HOH, Vince is spending more time with her
which angers Morgan to no end and Ashley seizes on it to drive a wedge between
them, reminding her that Vince chose Lauren first and her #1 is hanging out
with the person who nominated her. She can’t seem to make the logical leap to
“They must be working together” (1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Morgan]
to Dalphyne, Marissa, Brian and Tessa!)
Lauren tries to smooth things over with Keanu but she’s
unable to actually finish a sentence, throwing out three half-baked ideas on
why she nominated him. He is angry with her
and will absolutely put her and Vince up if he survives and wins HOH.
Julie spent some time interviewing Rachel here, and the
Queen is surprisingly honest and charming.
It’s a good false face, but in the end, it is still false.
Just a week after clapping in his face and throwing a tantrum at him, Ashley shows a complete lack of awareness and pitches Keanu on keeping her over Will. 5 secret bonus points for sending me the word tantrum in addition to any other bonus points. He’s so lost for true allies now that Rachel is gone (1 point for “Shown on camera in gray” [Rachel] to Jay and Brian!) that he thinks they could team up and do some damage. I can’t believe he’s entertaining this.
Morgan is still so angry at Vince that she walks right past
him without acknowledging his existence. No overlong hugs today, I guess. He’s tried to get her on the same page with Lauren,
but they do not trust each other and so he settles for “both of them will keep
me” (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Vince] to Dalphyne and Joe!)
At the BB Blockbuster, they have to untie a rope that wound
around, up, down and through a bellman’s cart.
By going over, down, around and through they need to unwind it long
enough to insert their key into the lock.
First person to do it wins safety.
Keanu looks like a man on fire. Ashley looks like an
unathletic woman in good shape. Will is 50, out of shape and has a hurt knee.
He has no chance here. Keanu calmly, quickly
pulls ahead and wins his way back into the house. (4 points for “Win special
comp” [Keanu] to Scott, Jay, Carol, Ricky, Tessa and Joe!). I genuinely
feel bad for Will, who seems like a good guy. He looks like he’s hurting.
There’s tepid applause when Keanu is named the winner, but
no post-comp strategy talk. Ashley is
visibly upset, and this is the first honest emotion from her all summer (1
point for “Shown on camera crying” [Ashley] to no one!). Will is emotional
too. Neither will speak against the other.
During the voting, Ava walks right past Keanu in the hallway without
acknowledging his existence. I wonder what that’s about?
In the end, the votes come in 3-2 and Will is evicted.
(3 points for “Received vote against” [Will] to Roberta!)
(-2 points for “Evicted” [Will] to Roberta!)
(2 points for “Jury member #2” [Will] to Roberta!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Ava] to Viviana!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Morgan] to
Dalphyne, Marissa, Brian and Tessa!)
(1 point for “Shown on camera crying” [Ashley] to no one!)
As Will heads out the door, Morgan gives Vince a long hug. I
guess he’s forgiven.
Next week is a double eviction night. You will keep the same players throughout the
episode.
So, what does
that mean for our scores?
Veto winner Morgan led all scorers this week with 18 points,
with Vince’s 15 landing him in 2nd place with Rachel in 3rd.
Kelley tied Rylie, Zach, Zae, Amy, Jimmy, Katherine and Adrian with 0 points. Thanks for the 0, Kelley!
In our game, Dalphyne’s forever picks of Morgan and Vince led her to a perfect 33 point week! Brian was close, with 31 and Jay/Tessa tied for 3rd with 27 each.
Overall, Carol still leads with me in 2nd, but 3rd
place Jay has narrowed the gap. Only 3 points behind Jay, Brian passes 5th
place Joe to take back 4th . Marissa remains in 6th, but
she’s eyeing 7th place Dalphyne closely, as she’s only 4 points
behind! Tessa blows right past her mother (Rude!) while Demi, Roberta and
Viviana fight to stay out of the cellar.
13th place Viviana has made tremendous strides over the last
couple of weeks and is now just a point away from breaking free of the cellar,
and 2 points behind Demi!
