Sophi

With three selections each, Rizo and Sophie led the way this week, followed by two for Sophi. No one picked Kristina.

Second, no one got the bonus points for knowing  that Christine Taylor says “I just threw up in my mouth a little bit” was her response to White Goodman’s attempt to woo her in Dodgeball.  Ironically, White is played by Ben Stiller…her real-life husband!  Third, 5 bonus points to me for knowing the TV show in the GIF Carol sent was “This Is Us”. A show I did not watch but was around enough that I recognized it. Carol called me all sorts of names for getting this one.

On to the update!

Kristina opens the show upset at herself for needlessly playing her idol. She didn’t know Sophie had flipped and spilled the beans about Sage/Jawan flipping, but Rizo tells her they knew.  He tells us he was going to play the fake idol to make Kristina play hers, but now it’s just a good story to tell the jury. Sophie wanted Jawan out and tries to explain the flip to Steven and Kristina who say, “No hard feelings”.

Forgive, but never forget

Sophie also needs to make amends with Sage, who’s pissed. In the past, she would fake the smile while sharpening the knife but she’s too emotional at the humiliation.  Sophie’s gone to the top of her list.

Reflecting on her game, Sophi sees that she’s #3 in her trio and might need to turn on them soon.  She brings in Sage to team with Kristina and Steven to get one of the two out.  For her part, Sage doesn’t truly trust Sophi and she’s right not to. Sophi’s a small-s-survivor. She may want to flip but will ultimately choose what keeps her safe. (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Sophi] to Ricky and Gloria!)

A boat arrives to take someone on a journey and feeling vulnerable, Steven wants whatever it is. The note says it’s a “strenuous journey” which makes everyone else bow out. He hops aboard and takes off! (3 points for “Go on a journey” [Steven] to Scott!)  Savannah is so nervous that he’s going that she…checks notes…actively chose not to go.  (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Savannah]!)

Tell her!

Journey

At this journey, Steven has to traverse the perimeter of an island to find a 6-digit code. The code unlocks a baton he can use to open a pot holding the advantage.  There’s a catch though – the pot is extended over the ocean, and the tide is rising. He needs to finish before the tide rises too high and the pot falls on its own.

So off he goes!

He slips and faceplants his way around the island while all I can think about is how badly my ankles would twist trying to do this.  The clue made it sound like he didn’t have much time, but he finishes with plenty of time to spare, opening the lock and retrieving a Block A Vote advantage!  (4 total points for “Risk vote on a journey and succeed” and “Mention ‘in this game’” [Steven] to Scott!).

Back At Camp

While he’s away, Sophie and Savannah happily discuss making his departure permanent. Sophie worries that he may wind up safe, or have an advantage, so she forms a backup plan with Sophi. They will go after Rizo or Savannah, an odd choice, seeing as how both of them are working with those two and Kristina and Sage are still available as targets. But hey, what do I know?

Hunger drives Rizo and others to try and catch a chicken.  But even with a net, they have no shot. The chickens live another day.

5 bonus points if you can tell me who the winner of the fight at the end of this movie. Message me directly.
Tell no one else.

You know it or you don’t!

Steven returns, spent. Breathlessly, he collapses on the beach and shares his story with everyone. The only thing he leaves out is the type of advantage he won, which sends the remaining Survivors into a tizzy.

Rizo immediately begins trying to guess and lands on Steal A Vote. Steven channels ”A Man For All Seasons”, neither confirming nor denying Rizo’s assumption. Rizo convinces himself he’s right, and Steven is more than happy to see the chaos churn in Rizo’s mind.

Immunity And Reward Challenge

In this challenge, they have to stack blocks to spell the word immunity on a disc that spins as they move back and forth to gather letters.  The reward is spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread and tiramisu.  And now I’m hungry.

Still exhausted,  Steven takes an early lead with Savannah right behind.  By the time he gets to 2 letters left, Sage is the only one close to him. Despite how much his tower leans, it refuses to fall.  He places the final letter, walks his way back, winning the competition! (16 total points for “Win Individual Immunity”  and “Win Individual Reward” [Steven] to Scott!).  Getting to choose two people to come with him, he takes Kristina as a thank you for playing her idol and Rizo who seemingly hasn’t eaten.  (3 points for “Chosen By Someone Else To Go On Reward” [Kristina] to no one!),  (3 points for “Chosen By Someone Else To Go On Reward” [Rizo] to Jay, Iyasah and Dalphyne!).  Seeing that her new nemesis is vulnerable, Sage thinks it’s time to get Sophie out.

At Reward

Everything is coming up Steven! Playing Survivor at a different level than Steven and Kristina, Rizo presents Sophie as a common target.  He is tremendously happy with himself, but he really understands this game. His pitch is strong enough that Steven and Kristina are on board, despite Kristina still wanting Savannah to go.

Back At Camp

The Sophi(e)’s and Savannah turn Wicked, deciding “I’ll get you next time, Steven. And your little dog too!” (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Sophie] to Carol, Roberta and Kristyn!).  But the Sophi(e)’s have been cooking a plan to get Savannah, and while Sage agrees with them it’s Sophie who tops her list as revenge for the blindside (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Sage] to Marissa!).

Sage enlists Sophi and Savannah to get Sophie. Savannah doesn’t trust her relationship with Sage, but she does trust Sage’s lust for revenge.

Sage: At this vote or the next

After the winners return, Rizo and Savannah swap Sophie story notes, and when Soph tells him that Sophie wanted Savannah out, Rizo sees it as “two birds for the price of…two stones for the…is it….one stone for two..ah…it’s the cherry on top”.  He can’t figure out the saying, and he can’t blame hunger either since he just downed a pound of pasta.

Don’t hurt yourself kid

(5 points for “Say The Title Of The Episode” [Rizo] to Jay, Iyasah and Dalphyne!)

He gets into agreement with Sage and while no one trusts each other, they do trust that their interests are aligned.  Sage tells Sophie that Savannah is still the target, and Steven tells her he’d love to see Savannah go but going for Sophie saves his advantage.

Tribal Council

Sage was emotional after Jawan’s blindside as he was her stabilizing force. Sophie feels bad for the blindside, but it’s still a game.  Steven openly says he won an advantage, but Savannah sees his reluctance to share what it is as a lack of trust.

Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want

Rizo thinks that adds an extra layer to the game, but really all he wants is a group of four so he can make it out of Tribal intact (1 point for “Mention ‘in this game’” [Rizo] to Jay, Iyasah and Dalphyne).  Sophie worries about not having immunity, but Savannah has also won twice which is probably why they’re the main topics of conversation.

Kristina is open about who she’s voting for – it’s Savannah. They’re just oil and water. They do not get along and been on the opposite sides of every vote.  Sage is open that revenge is a great, easy vote but may not be what’s best while Savannah closes tribal saying “We don’t need to agree on why, just who”.  At the vote, Savannah is chosen to go first (3 points for “First Person Chosen To Vote” [Savannah] to Brian!).

When the votes come in, no idols or advantages are played.  Sophie votes for Savannah and everyone else votes for Sophie. She’s voted out 6-1 becoming Juror #5.

(1 point for “Received Vote Against” [Savannah] to Brian!)

(6 points for “Received Vote Against” [Sophie] to Carol, Roberta and Kristyn!)

(-2 points for “The Tribe Has Spoken” [Sophie] to Carol, Roberta and Kristyn!)

(2 points for “Juror #5” [Sophie] to Carol, Roberta and Kristyn!)

She never saw it coming

So, what does that mean for our scores?

With a successful journey, individual immunity and reward, Steven absolutely destroyed this episode.  He’s followed by Rizo who has titled more episodes than any other two Survivors combined.

In our game,  WE HAVE A NEW LEADER!  Thanks to Steven’s incredible week (and my knowledge of random nonsense), I have passed Carol and taken the lead! Carol drops to 2nd, 16 points ahead of Iyasah remains in 3rd.  Gloria only earned a single point this week, but it’s enough to keep her in 4th. Jay moves up three spots to 5th,  just a point ahead of 6th place Marissa.  Dalphyne also rises up two spots into 7th. But when some rise, others must fall and so it is for Brian and Ricky. They fall from 6th and 7th to 8th and 9th.  While Roberta is in 10th and Kristyn 11th, they are very close to the middle of the pack and there’s still a lot of points out there!
